Kyocera FS-1135 mfp - Can't scan to folder

A customer dropped this machine off at the office for a PM and mentioned that he couldn't scan to folder.

I suspect it needs the latest firmware. The version currently installed is: 2MJ 2F00 001 and the install date is: 12/21/2011.

When I input all the pertinent information to scan to folder it says: "Can't connect".

Am I on the right track thinking it's a firmware problem?

I don't have the service manual or latest firmware, but I'm working on getting it.

Yes always worth trying the firmware as the first step in troubleshooting.

It could be that your PC/server has SMB v1 disable due to the known security issue.

    Hmmm.

So they dropped this machine off at your office. And mentioned that it can't scan to folder. You do realize that you cannot test scan to folder if the recipient PC and folder are not connected ... like on a completely different network, in a completely different building.

Sure a firmware update could resolve this issue, but you cannot test your results without being on-site, connected to the customers network.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Good morning, Billy. The fs-1135 machine does not support smb v2 or scan to email with tls 1.2, firmware will not even fix it. The newer m2535dn does support smb v2, they are about 4 years old now but you can pu some lightly used on the cheap, or have their IT setup ftp.

Yes, I do realize that. I'm not familiar with the machine in the least. If I can get it to scan here and gain some experience, I'll go to their office and set it up.

Right now it's giving me an 1101 code. I needed to take a break from that machine but I'm gonna get back on it later.

I tried setting up with the scan tool and it said it was successful but get the 1101 code. I set it manually and get the same results. Frustrating. And I did update the firmware

    Any suggestions?

Thanks to copiertec, I learned a valuable lesson: Before trying to set up SMB, CHECK TO SEE IF IT SUPPORTS SMB v.2 OR HIGHER.

You’re welcome, this is a common mistake with these older models not supporting SMB v2/3

You're letting me off much too easy. It was a dumbass rookie mistake by me.

But that's what happens when you've been away from the business for as long as I have.

I honestly don't know what I'd do without this place.

Easy mistake to make, & easily sorted you can enable SMB v1 again although this is not recommended.

But all you need to do in put an old Win 7 PC on the network, create a shared folder & have the users scan to this.
