Copystar CS 4050 / Maintenance Kit

    Good Evening ALL

I am replacing my first maintenance kit in a Copystar CS-4050 tomorrow(LUCKY ME)When I did a search on Copytechnet I saw some posts that said all need to do is
install Drum unit and Developer unit and the counts will reset.I purchased a service manual and it says RUN A U157 +U167. Im more confused then I usually am.The manual
was not very clear to me. Can anyone please help me with the procedure for replacing the Maintenace kit(BESIDES GET A REAL TECH)
THANKS FOR ALWAYS ALWAYS helping me and for being GOOD SPORTS about it
    ANDY

U167 is the fuser count, which will not reset by itself. You'll want to do that.
U130 is the developer initialize, fills the developing unit with monocomponent toner. You want to do that. It's good to have extra toner on hand.
U157 is the developer drive time. You'll want to reset that.
U251 is the maintenance counter. You'll want to reset that.

It's a little tricky getting the primary charge cleaner motor installed, and the primary charge unit seated correctly. Pay attention to how the primary unit fits upon arrival.
When you install the drum, look at the coupler in the rear of the machine, and turn the drum to properly align the couplers. Fit the unit gently to make sure it mates. If you just shove in the drum unit and tighten the screw, you'll break off the ear that you're screwing into. The drum-side drum drive coupler tends to seize up with age, so I usually put a few drops of oil on it at installation. It helps.
I almost always have to go back when the work is complete to dry-wipe away any mottling on the developing roller with a clean towel. That is any weird repeating patterns on your copy.

I've heard techs tell me that they can do a PM kit in 30 minutes, and maybe they can ... but they certainly couldn't clean anything, and they couldn't suitably re-package the kit for warranty. I just can't justify that kind of hit & run approach. Plan to spend at least an hour.

Just follow the instructions in the box. Easy peasy. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I don't see how replacing a kit is even possible in 30 minutes if you do everything in it, I usually spend a couple of hours at least, more if I'm doing the doc feeder too. Maybe those techs aren't replacing the feed/sep rollers, and there is always a minimum of 2 trays although many of mine have 4. Cleaning everything out, resetting counters, testing everything is why I rarely get callbacks. It takes more time to do a repeat call than it does to do it right. Also, keep your old main charge assy. if it looks in good condition. That model had an issue with brand new charge assy's making dark copies on one side, they also sometimes go bad before the kit is due so its good to keep it as a backup as I don't think it's available anymore as a stand alone part due to age.

    Hey My FRIENDS
THANK YOU ALL for the help and support. Hey Blackcat THANK YOU for taking the time to share with me your insights
with installing this kit.P.S. FRANK FROM ACTIONPHOCOPY SAYS HELLO)
So I start by installing the drum and had the coupler aligned just as you had warned me, AS I put it in it did not completely
go in all the way,and Im thinking, THEY SENT ME THE WRONG DRUM()!Then I`m noticing it is slightly crooked,THEN
I realized that I made a mistake that I HAVE NOT MADE IN 40 YEARS, I DID NOT have it on the front track,Needless to say
you know the rest of the story(OUCH )
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN JUST GET THE DRUM AT A RESONABLE PRICE???

THE REST of the night will be spent in a BOTTLE OF SAVIGNON CABERNET or TWO
