    Folding limit - Taskalfa 6053Ci with BF-730

    Hi you all,

We installed a Kyocera Taskalfa 6053ci with the folding unit BF-730 on the DF-7110 Finisher. This device came in place for a Konica Minolta with similar options.
Folding without stapling is possible allthough there's a limit of 5 sheets, otherwise the bundle will not hold in place while folding i think. You also can choose at driver level per how many sheets you want to fold, but with the same limit of 5 sheets.

That being said, if the customer sent a document with more than 5 sheets to the Konica Minolta, the device refused to fold the complete document and sent it to the normal output tray.
If we do the same on the Kyocera, the device will fold the first 5 pages, and after that the rest of the pages also folded into a bundle, what's not workable because then you have several folded 'bundles' for 1 document.

Is there a possibility to work in the same way as the Konica Minolta behaves if the print is more than 5 sheets, folding the entire document only if it's max. 5 sheets, if not then just sending it unfolded to the normal output tray?

    Kind regards in advance!

You mean like writing new firmware for the machine, changing the way the basic machine functions?

Maybe your classes have been a bit more in-depth than mine, but I've never been let in on machine code. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    Hi,

No, I ment if there was a possibility to change service settings or something, not rewriting firmware.

    Froota,
What the BF-730 is doing is called "booking". When the number of pages exceed the 5 pages the machine folds the pages and creates a new "book". These books can then be bound together to create a complete booklet. As Blackcat said it is in the firmware with no service setting to dis-able it that I am aware of. The reason for 5 pages when not stapling is that after the fold, the pages would begin to look like a staircase, unacceptable to most users. On another point, if your user does not like the booking, are they so unaware of how many pages they are printing that when it exceeds 20 pages they do not enable booklet folding? It is as simple as 20 pages fold, over twenty pages do not enable folding.

If the software being used to print the document indicates that it will more than 5 sheets, then just set it to unfolded exit at the time it is printed. Maybe just offset sort or rotate sort if it will be more than one set.

    The simple answer is No
No way to override the driver setting for a reason.
You should key-op the end user to create the correct document with the maximum numbers of pages allowed.

    Half folding: 60–256 g/m², A3, B4, A4R Booklet: max. 16 sheets (64 pages, 60–90 g/m³) Non-staple folding: max. 5 sheets (60–90 g/m²) Tri-folding: 60–120 g/m², A4R Multi tri-folding: 5 sheets (60–90g/m²), 3 sheets (91–120g/m²)
