    Lightbulb TaskAlfa 3252ci - Error Developer-Y

    Hello

    I have a strange error on a Kyocera/Copystar 3252ci.
We already changed the yellow developer 4 times but after about 2500 printings the error occures again.
We also changed the yellow drum, the high-voltage-board and the EEPROM (got this from Kyocera directly). But it couldn't solve the problem.

Just a first glance at this, but isn't that the same pattern as the spiral foam cleaner on the charger roller? Also, maybe, laser?

The same "spiral cleaner" is build in the developer unit. After changing the DV-Y, error is gone for 2500 prints, then it occures again.
I think the problem is, the developer-unit runs empty after this 2500 print-pages. But I don`t know why.

I read where you changed the high voltage board, but did you ever bother to take any voltage readings? I think I'd be checking some voltages and stop replacing the yellow DV unit over and over again.

Are you getting false "Add Toner" indications? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I would check Y drum erase LEDs/lamps. Your yellow developer is finding its way into waste you should find why. Double check machine filters if clogged they also may cause this.

See if you have a sensor built into the developer that tells the unit when the toner percentage is right in the developer, it would plug into a small probably 2 prong plug. If one is bad it may not add toner. You can swap sensors with the other color units. You could have any type problem if your toner drive has a problem also. The erase lampe is a possibility, if you can shut it down at the end of a copy cycle before it shuts off if the drum is coated with Yellow toner then they would not be lighting up to clean the drum and use up toner.

These 2500 copies you state work well could be with the pre mixed toner/dev when you add it depending what black to white ratio you are running.

Start with seeing if your toner is dropping into the developer, if not swap the sensor, check toner drive for problems. If you can run a toner drive for yellow simulation do thsat.

Lots to try, going to the service manual page here would be a help. I don't service this particular copier but sure its like others. That sensor is a piezoelectric and activates when toner is needed if this unit uses it. Some newer Xeroxs did I have worked on.

Let us know how you fix it.

    Thanks

When the error occures, the developer-unit is dead. (I tried them in another machine and it`s not recovering)

First change: I changed DV because I thought its faulty
Second change: I changed developer again (Kyocera told me they had some defective developer-units in stock but improved them)
Third change: I changed the HV-Board and the DV (The voltage-readings from maintenance-mode are normal, compared to another 3252ci )
Fourth Change: I changed the EEPROM and the DV (as Kyocera told me)

@blackcat4866 There are no wrong "Add Toner" indications.

@40yearsplus I also opened the faulty developer-unit. In this unit is no toner-sensor inside (I know the sensor from all the previous machines). The defective developer-unit is nearly empty (a few crumbs developer/toner inside).

On friday I will take a look at the Hopper-Unit and the Toner -Drive (good idea).

So you did put a Brand New Developing unit in the unit not just the developer. There is a name for that problem you have and it is called Barber Poleing, and I have seen a lot of my fellow techs have to replace the whole mechanical developer unit also to cure this, but just making sure thats what you replaced not just the Iron Filings (Developer).

Hang in there you will get it.

Remember to look for that Manual in the section here or ask for a Service Manual.

For better understanding how toner control on Iris series is working look for the attachment.
    @40yearsplus:
Instead of magnetic detection, now we have frequency detection
    @Ramatzko:
In your case, maybe we get problem with the controlling by Feed Image PWB and/ or Engine PWB.
DV connected to Drum_DLP_Connect PWB --> Feed Image PWB incoming on YC17/ outgoing by YC28 --> Engine PWB incoming on YC42
If we have bad connection, maybe system won`t recognize real value and engine won`t start toner motor for adding toner.
Look for U155 at first and check wirings between the pwbs.

    By the way:
Did you unplug the power plug from the wall outlet before exchange from the DV units?
Did you run ALL needed adjustments after mounting?
Check U157, U158 and U984 for correct values.
If counters and/ or SN not real, system can`t calculate need amount of toner in the right way.
