    Re: FK-8550 Shortage

If the timers are set for more than 9 minutes (I was told) the fuser will turn/rotate 24 hours a day (wearing bearings to rust dust) unless you turn off "fuser power mode" in sim 346. I do this and have significantly reduced fuser failure and consumption.

Thanks. That's good to know. I've tried it and it works.

I'm looking at U346 in the manual, and I don't see anything called "fuser power mode".

    I do see:
Timer/Sleep Level: BAM conformity country setting
Auto Sleep: Switch auto sleep function setting

    Which one of these? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Update your manuals. It's in my 2 series manual. The fusers we've been getting in after that backorders are 7 series.
    Hope that helps !

AFAIK, It only applies to 2552-6052 and 2553-6053. Also B/W of the same family. Not large or small machines.

So basically they cannot wait 5 seconds to help save the planet?

Hard to have sympathy for that attitude.

Inductive heaters greatly reduce WUT over the old aluminum/halogen systems and use much less power.

However they have to rotate anytime they are being heated and that's just the price for eco-friendly.

If your are auth'd and have warranty support I suppose you can afford to be wasteful and not use Silent Mode but otherwise you should take to heart the things said by those who do.

If you are blowing through FK's because you won't use Silent Mode then you are part of the problem.

for me this is big problem!!!!! the warranty is 600 thousand prints in 3 years and no customer I follow makes them so it's a bloodbath!!!!!!
but joking?, they can't wait, it seems to be a matter of life or death!!!!; if it were up to me I would provide him with carbon paper and ballpoint pen

    p.sPROBLEMS OF PROCUREMENT ALSO FOR FK-7125 !!!!!!!! (3262) and TR-8550 azzo:azzo:

    Re: FK-8550 Shortage

I've been putting silent mode on then putting sleep to 10 mins. Haven't had anyone complain yet but I usually say to the customer would you leave your oven on for 2 hours after cooking dinner.

When I worked with a dealer on Konicas they would setup every machine to 2 hours, never understood then a year later they all wanted fuser units that they wouldn't buy. I clocked on pretty quick when every machine squeaked and had bearing dust all over. I've always been surprised the warranty process didn't ask for rotation time and not amount of prints, they must have lost millions from people returning cooked fusers constantly.

We do the same. Every one that leaves our store has Silent Mode ON.
