    Kyocera ECOSYS P6230cdn jamming issue

    Hi Guys

I need some help with this one.

I have a Kyocera P6230cdn that randomly jams just before exiting, paper jammed in rear cover. The machine will work just fine then it will start jamming randomly The jamming seems to be like a mismatch, like an A5 format printing on an A4 sheet(Please see pics attached).

I checked that the cassette is set correctly with paper set on A4. The rollers are all in good condition as well. We have many machines like this but this is a first that I am experiencing this issue.

I am no expert by any means and my knowledge is very limited with this model. Hopefully you guys can help

Please feel free to request any more info.

    Thanks

There have been issues with the paper size switches. Yes, I see the A5 image centered on A4 paper. There are two places that the paper size is set: with the cassette dial AND in the System Menu. If that data conflicts, yes you can also get jamming and paper size mismatches. It would help to know the jam code. See here for an easy way to print that error log:

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks Blackcat. There is no specific jam code, just the paper jam in rear cover message that appears. I will try to print the error log and provide feedback.

If you have network access to a printer, you can check jam, service call, and other logs by typing http://<printerIPadress>/eventlog
    Should see something similar:

Thanks diedux, I learnt something new.

So I went to the site this morning and after some troubleshooting, I found out what was causing the jamming issue.

The problem is related to the cassette switch being slightly loose and cassette wear itself. My theory is that when the machine is printing there is slight movement in the cassette which disengages the switches in-between prints causing the random jamming with incorrect format. I also found that there is slight wear on either side of the cassette causing it to move horizontally ever so slightly which disengages the switches.

I did a quick fix until I get a new cassette, pics below. I guess its the way the users load the cassette into machine which caused it to wear on either side.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Kyocera ECOSYS P6230cdn jamming issue

This post helped me solving my issue. I had a differnt problem for the paper Jam.
The retard roller was poorly alligned causing the paper jam. Could have happened during the transport or maybe was not installed by technician properly the last time it was serviced.

    Cheers.

As well as the cassette size thumb wheel rotating, I’ve had to replace the adjacent switch block on a number of machines due to intermittently showing the wrong size and subsequently having to a jam due to this. You will see in the jam history that the paper size is different to what the cassette is set to. If the thumb wheel is correct but the jam indicates a different paper size, replace the switch block.
