    P2040dw add paper to cassette

    https://www.copytechnet.com/forums/k...sette-1-a.html

I found this thread, but I don't think mine is doing the same thing with the MP tray. It's not a paper size/media type issue. Seems to be mechanical, but I've only seen it do it once. It's happend a couple of times according to my customer. Firmware is up to date, latest KX driver. Same print engine as the 2540/2635mfp.
    Hope that helps !

Don't know what issue you are having, but make sure when you are using the MP tray to put more paper in it than you need so the sensors pick up that there is paper in it and what size.

Re: P2040dw add paper to cassette

When tray one is inserted, is the paper plate being released? Have had a couple of these on 2540's where the latch does not release the paper plate and the machine does not see paper in the tray. It can be intermittent. I had a case where you could insert the tray ten times and then the next time the paper plate would not be released resulting in a add paper indication. Most times add a small amount of grease on the nylon catch and the paper plate latch will resolve it. Other cases we "reformed" the L shaped latch on the plate to get it to work reliably. What is baffling is this is the same design used on many previous models that work flawlessly. My guess is they changed the metal of the paper plate that deforms causing the problems.

Ask your Kyocera Rep for SB I137, a rather complicated mechanical fix of the lift plate 'hook' binding due to burrs in manufacture which is identified for the following units:

    P2040dw (120v Americas) prior to VD28317628

Sounds like something I could fix with a flat file. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

LOL….actually that’s in there. However some parts can get deformed and the (long) bulletin has nice diagrams.

Thank you, I was able to find it with the bulletin number. Astea is a less than user friendly site. I'd also tried looking under the MFP version of that engine on the Service Navi. I just double checked again, and that bulletin isn't listed there. It was released after the last time it was updated.
My serial number is VD207xxxxx, so it shouldn't apply ? I guess I should still check to see it the plate is bent even though it shouldn't have the burrs.

tmaged you would be wise to check the plate. If it was just burrs on the plate latch, why does it take thousands of pages for the symptom to show up?? If it were just burrs on the latch it would exhibit the problem long before tray one was opened and inserted hundreds of times. Our typical failure with this problem occurs in the 150,000 to 200,000 range. That indicates a metal fatigue problem not a burr. I have toyed with the idea of taking a paper lift plate from a m2535 and putting it in a M2540 cassette to see the results, I think I will do it.

I'll be interested in the results. =^..^=

You are correct in that the burrs on the plate hook initially occasionally catch and the lift plate sits out of position, binds on lift and may not drop so can cause jams or bind on removal.

The stress deforms the hook and over time the entire lift plate.

It's all in there, even the lift plate PN
