    kyocera 3500i hazy line

my customer has a hazy gray line a third of the way across the page in the print direction its not the optics because sometimes the line is gone and it gets worse on multiple copies the drum looks ok and so does the charge roller but it looks like a hot spot so i really think its the drum just trying to get a second opinion because the drum unit is expensive and i would hate to sell it to them and still have the line thanks in advance bruce

    Does the line repeat?

Do you have a sample we can see?

I think I'd like a visual sample please:
    Attached Files Attached Files
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Do you get this hazy gray line from doing internal prints? Can you print pages to the machine & see what it looks like that way also? Is this only happening while doing copies?

copies and prints from pc thats why i suspect the drum also it comes and goes so I dont think its mirrors or laser its got to be the drum or the dv unit but im thinking if its a forign object in the dv it would move side to side but its not what about a hot spot on the charge roller hmmm also any example is at the customers office and my scanner is on loan

Did you check the paper dust wiper for the registration roller? Have had cases where the paper dust creates a string and interferes with the developer and then breaks off and the copies are fine. See this mostly with clients that use recycled paper.

Could be dust on the laser but the developer units aren’t great in these and can be a load of paper dust built up inside. The top can be removed easily and while you are there vac out all the airflow channels and the filter at the rear. This is mandatory servicing on these.

    check also heat roller surface.
You can stop printing before paper passes the hot roller. Check the image. If line exist it is not the fuse unit.
Else check the drum surface at the point that line exist , searching for a scratch line.
    Else problem in dev unit.
