Kyocera 3645 not grabbing an IP address.

Had a customer buy some new machines to replace some old 1135s, 4 2640s and 1 3645. All machines work fine except the 3645, it won't grab an IP address. Put one of the 2640s where the 3645 was and it does, put the 3645 where the 2640 was it does.

Makes no sense but it only won't grab an IP address at this one spot in this office and will everywhere else but the 2640s will grab one where the 3645 won't. Same network, same ip range, same everything, very odd.

Have you tried setting a static IP address?

Yep, it wouldn't pop up on the network or even show an IP address on the status page, move it to another spot in the office and works fine.

Sounds like you've got a bad cable or network port. Does your laptop pick up a DHCP address? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Put the ipaddress in the machine with the network cable unplugged.

Confirm with status page than plug into network

Is the router/switch port going bad where you tried to plug the 3645 in? Quick test would be to take a small 4 port switch with you and plug the cable from the wall into the switch and then plug the switch into the machine, if it picks up an address, the router/switch port is going bad. Had a case a couple of years ago on a 6525 that would lose the DHCP address randomly. Plug a laptop into the port and it would pick up an address every time. Finally convinced IT to switch the jack to another port on the switch and it worked fine still is. It is worth a shot.

I agree with blackcat. The best thing he can do at this point is plug in his laptop and see if it pulls a DHCP address. That way, you'll eliminate either the machine or their network as the problem and go from there.

Everything else picks up an IP address there and works like it should, I moved the 3645 to a different spot and put a 2640 there. The 3645 is the only thing that doesn't work in that spot, it's weird.

That rules out a bad port on the switch or anything on their network. It's possible that the the Mac Address is blocked. Not likely, but possible.

PS - Describe the network in the office. What kind of switches, routers, ect?

Do they have an IT person?
