    kyocera 3511i 8990 error

Hey all, I've been looking to buy some of these 3511i models with low meters and my wholesaler finally had some come in but they all have the finisher code 8990. That seems to have to do with the bridge. They had some low meter 3011is, but they must have never had finishers and I bought them all. Since these machines don't have the finishers, I'm guessing whoever serviced them kept those finishers and bridges. Can't blame them there, but how do you tell a machine that it's been removed on that it's not there anymore? I hardly ever sell/service machines with finishers, just not a big demand for them with my accounts, so without having one with a finisher to remove and test with I don't know. I'd like to tell them how to clear it so I can get a meter off of it and see if it's worth purchasing. tia.

C-8990 is when the machine detects finisher but no bridge or bridge but no finisher. If the finisher is gone, you must remove the bridge too. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Hmm, when I looked it up it said defective PWB or bad connection, or couldn't see that the bridge was there. But, it having the bridge with no finisher will cause the same code then that's an easy fix, I'll tell them to pull it off and see if it goes away. There are other ways to get a meter, but it's too difficult to explain service mode stuff to them over the phone. I saw they had other machines with 8800 error codes, always finisher related with these machines when it comes to the wholesalers. I thought when they were turned in off of FMV leases they had to go back intact, but seems a lot of dealers are skimming the options.

Just be sure that the machine is fully OFF then unplugged, or your enduser could blow the main board by unplugging it live.
