It's to re-enable functions that have been disabled do to a failure. Cassette lift error, finisher motor errors, etc.
You should see a corresponding error for the disabled function in the log to let you know where to begin troubleshooting.
    Hope that helps !

Depending on the model of Kyocera, U906 can reset certain error conditions (does not affect paper jam conditions). Certain models of Kyocera (specifically Matsuri) do not use U906. These models have a menu item that appears in the System Menu when an error condition occurs, which allows you to reset the error. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

<-- the guy who replaced nearly every finisher component not knowing that.

Thankfully it was an inner finisher so just a board, elevation motor and a sensor or two.

Think of it as kinda like rebooting your computer.

At one point I had started down that road, but accidentally browsed past the correct page in the manual.
So many of my successes were entirely based on dumb luck (and perhaps a bit of stubborn persistence).

    Which error?
So after you perform the U906 partial reset, have you monitored the lift motor voltage to see if the lift motor is getting voltage? =^..^=

Luck. I think not. Not with you. You're the type of tech that creates his own luck with persistence, dedication and an unmatched work ethic.
