We've had a number of 2 series machines (ci or i) that are intermittently not fusing. The remedy for this is
System Menu>Common Settings>Original/Paper Settings>Media Type Setting>Plain> Change to normal 3.
We've tried other things like silent mode, adjusting fuser temp, etc. and nothing worked.
Even had to do it on a new P4060dn which is a 2 series engine.
Confirmed, I had to do the same thing on a few machines. 6002's.
Another thing to watch, is the power. On an AlphardI, I wasted 3 months and every fixing part: multiple fuser units, IH coils, IH board, bumping up fuser temperatures until I started blowing thermistats. It was a cemetery, so they did 200% - 400% fill color images, portraits. The fusing issue affected only the heaviest fill on the first page, but by the third page, I affected the whole image. Enabling Silent Mode helped somewhat.
Out of desperation, I got out my power quality analyzer, and followed the power cord under a cubicle to a 375W battery backup, which was plugged into another 375W battery backup. Is that supposed to double it's capacity when you daisy chain battery backups (LOL)?
If you really want a suitable battery backup for an AlphardI, you need at least 1800W. I took a quick reading just to document, but the solution was to remove the battery backups. If I can find it, I'll attach the PQA report. =^..^=

The first segment was both 375W battery backups daisy chained, the second segment was only one 375 battery backup.

The first one I had, the P4060, I did everything, new fuser, including checking power etc. Luckily my Kyocera rep gave me the paper setting to try. I've had to use it on about 8 more machines so I thought I'd pass that info along. Never had to do it on a 3 or 4 series though. I'd like to know exactly WHY it works. It doesn't slow the machine down or change temperature. Pressure is the only possibility I can think of.
The media setting should be slightly elevating the temperature. You won't see differences in the service settings. =^..^=Originally Posted by tmaged

That was the thing I tried on a couple of them. I think I went up either 5 or 10 degrees and they still had issues. Replacing fuser didn't resolve. Media type normal 3 for plain did.
