    Kyocera Ecosys P2135dn Fuser dirty

    Hi,

I am running a printer in a very dusty environment.

The last printer only lasted about 50k pages. Repetitive defects gauge lead me to the fuser.

The fuser (heater roller) has some black dots on it, alcohol won't do it.

My question now is - is there a way to clean it without destroying the coating?
I am willing to try everything since I am not buying a new fuser for this printer.

And if not - any ideas how to prevent this in the future?
Maybe cleaning the dust out of the printer from time to time?
Or anything I can put on the heat-roller to prevent stuff from sticking to it?

Didn't find much on fuser-care on the internet, maybe someone could point me to the right direction?

    Thanks
    bergerb

I don't spend much time scrubbing fuser rollers these days, but when I did I'd drip some fuser oil (6 to 10 drops) onto the heat roller and warm it up several times. This softens up toner buildup on the rollers. Then while its still hot use a soft towel and an orange oil based cleaner to wipe it down, while rolling the fuser through.

This is a great opportunity to thoroughly burn your fingertips, unless of course, you don't have any feeling in your fingertips anymore. Most of us that have been doing this for a while have burned our fingertips often enough that they don't feel much.

If it's really bad you can repeat the procedure a second or third time. There is no point in trying to pass paper while there's fuser oil on the rollers. It will jam repeatedly.

If you find scars in the roller(s) there's no point in continuing the cleaning. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    Wow, thanks

Will be challenging to have enough heat at the rollers - with this model, the fuser is deeply burried inside the printer, but I will try my best

Thanks again, that helps me a lot 👍

Remind me cra.p Toshy model actually it was Sharp machine like Toshiba 161 maybe.
They had terrible ghosting at around 20k so to turn fuser gear when fuser is hot I take fuser out plugged in harness while cheating switches to heat fuser out of machine then do the damn fingerburning job.

Be very careful doing that with the fuser taken out without drive applied to the rollers. You can melt down the pressure roller to the heat roller if you leave it to heat too long.

unfortunately, even paper is relatively "abrasive" if the goal is to maintain coating. Kyocera's coating isnt that good tbh...

and another thing to consider is machine's idle time to low power, how long does it take? I dont know if it matters on the smaller machines, but the bigger taskalfas fuser will only last 150k if the idle to low power is 1hr+. as to why, you are losing wear and tear to idle time. You may have only fused 150k sheets of paper, but the fuser has spinned 300k+ worth. Dont know if your case applies, but worth checking for future reference.
