ecosys p3150 pressure roller build up

I'm sorry I might be asking more questions then answering lately but here it goes. We are starting to get into Kyoceras so I don't know everything & I haven't spotted this in the manual yet. We have a number of machines out now but haven't seen this problem yet. We just put one of these in and a month later it had all this build up on the pressure roller. It has oem toner. I cleaned the b/u off & raised the fuser temp the next notch up.

Just short of two weeks the same problem was happening again. I cleaned the roller off & not sure why it's happening or how to prevent it. I don't remember exactly if it had pressure levers but it was fusing correctly. I wonder if I'm missing some other setting someplace.

Thank you for any insight you could provide.

Are you using genuine Kyocera toner? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

He stated OEM toner so I assume this means genuine.

Paper quality AND the correct weight setting have a big affect on KYO fusers.

Also check what your client is printing, lots of solid black images?

They are using standard 20lb plain paper. It didn't appear to be a cheap brand. It's an accountant, so mostly tax return style forms. It don't recall kyoceras or other printers having a problem with the same conditions.

Re: ecosys p3150 pressure roller build up

On the older 4200 we had this very problem with buildup on the press roller. Kyocera came up with a setting for letter paper type that helped. The following is from a firmware update :

Improvement for smudges on the press roller
The fuser temperature control is changed to prevent smudges on the press roller.
    1. Measure for fuser temperature decrease, immediately after starting the paper feed.
(Before) The temperature of the center of the heat roller decreases about 10 degrees C / 18 degrees F immediately after feeding paper.
(After) The temperature has been stabilized after paper feed begins.
    2. Adding the target temperature changeable mode to Custom 6
The new mode that can raise the control temperature of the heat roller is added to Custom 6 as the fuser performance improvement mode, in order to support users who have smudges on the press roller even after setting the default fuser temperature.
    [Custom 6]
The fuser temperature is raised about 20 degrees C / 36 degrees F.

You can try setting the paper type to "Custom 6" for letter paper in the affected tray and see if it makes a difference. the machine will take longer to stabilize and first print out time will be longer. But it does help.

I also made a solid gray test page in PDF format and have the customer print off 3 when needed. He then runs them upside down through the manual feeder set at Cardstock. It will pull the toner buildup off the press roller.

Its not a perfect fix, but it helps.

Interestingly, My customer with the problem is also an accountant running premium 20wt paper.

Re: ecosys p3150 pressure roller build up

Sorry for late reply, but i found this post today...

Settings for older 6th generation printers not longer needed.
At this new range ( 6th+) it would implemented in service mode/ service settings.
Incearsing fuser temp and changed transfer voltages.
    (Mediatype Custom 6, 7 + 8 before)
    But attention:
If fuser would set to "2" instead of "1" there is the possibilty to increase duplex jamming, if bad paper type in use.

Re: ecosys p3150 pressure roller build up

additional information from Kyocera for cleaning from pressroller as "kjg" had written.
You don`t need own gray scale printout file, you can use original KYO file implemented in the enclosed PDF file.
At "problem" endcustomers we implemented this file to autostart routine each morning...but i can`t upload this file because copytechnet server don`t accept the "autostart" file.
    It`s a file without extension.
Here a picture from content, maybe you can create your own....

    i forgot important information:
file name MUST BE "02autostart" without any extension.
Here are 1 file for printing reports stored on mounted SD card.
    Remove the extension and try.
