    P7240cdn

    i have a P7240cdn in the workshop that just dropped of a customers network, tried all the usual stuff but bottom line is it wont pick up an IP address on DHCP, it will let you manually input an address but it doesn't show up on a status report nor can you ping it. Tried doing a network restart, NG and then changed the Main PWB but still NG, it will print via USB cable but doesn't work on ethernet connection. My next train of thought would be to change the Engine Relay PWB, any ideas would be gratefully received

    are you sure the ethernet port is active?

    a lot of machines CANNOT have the RJ45 port and USB active at the same time.

    can you post the network settings page?

    does it kick any error?

    have you hooked up you laptop to the copier cable to test the cable?

    Do not know if this will help, but here goes. Did the customer have new computers/server(s) installed? Had a case last week where a nursing home had all their computers replaced including the domain server. Suddenly no one could print to any of the five Kyo systems. Printing out the status page on a number of the units showed no IPv4 addresses even though DHCP was on. Even running the print driver installer could not pick up any of the units. Dug a little deeper and apparently the IT company had gone into the web pages on the machines and turned off IPv6 on all the units. Turning on IPv6 on the units and you could now see the IPv4 addresses of the Kyo units though they were not the same as the IPv4 addresses they set the printers for. Additionally, connecting to the printers was spotty, you could print five or six documents and then it would show as offline. Even using the hostname as the port did not help the issue. Talking with the IT company they of course said that IPv4 should work[it did not] and trying to get information on how the DNS server was setup which would be required for hostnames got an answer of we do not know. We resolved the issue by using the IPv6 addresses which seems to be working for now and hopefully the IT company will reserve the IPv6 addresses for the printers as requested. We will see.

    What happened when you connected directly to your laptop? Were you able to ping and print to it? You cannot work solely on your customer's network when you have a network problem.

    No hardware or network changes at the customer site, a loan device was given and is working happily on the same network, IP address and network ethernet cable.

    plugged in to a working network socket using an ethernet cable in our workshop and also tried a crossover from laptop. IP address manually input to device but cannot ping it from PC or laptop.
