p3145 fuser problems out of box

have a new p3145 that wont fuse a light card stock-wipe toner right off, machine is brand new. vendor wanted to try new fuser and sent a fk-3302 not the fk-3202 that i removed. is the fk-3202 on some sort of backorder status? the 3302 is for the p3055 but appears like it would fit but don't wanna screw up warranty. issue has been ongoing for 2 months and loosing patience. i ran the card stock through a p3045 i use in the warehouse and it fused just fine. getting almost zero help from vendor i was wondering if anyone here has had similar issue and could give me some direction-- too much effort for a $500printer. thanks--tuey

Have you tried changing to a heavier media type setting? What gsm is the "light card stock"? Does it have a gloss or texture? Have you used Plain paper? Does it fuse properly?

Try the simple things first. =^..^=

    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

Re: p3145 fuser problems out of box

thanks but this has been going on for 2+ months. machine was purchased to do a bill run once a month. less than 1k prints. firmware, many tries at various throughput settings, kyocera apple drivers, every step that vendor wanted to try. i said a month ago it was probably gonna be fuser or a power supply. they said it was a new kyocera policy that is causing the 3 week lead time on a fuser. i've been begging for a DOA as it seems the quickest solution. they tell me that kyocera will reimburse me for our labor but that probably almost equals purchase price by now. anyone have any experience with labor reimbursement with them? are these issues being made worse by my vendor?? thanks--tuey

Re: p3145 fuser problems out of box

yes, don't know the gsm, texture, yes and yes. could have wrote very large paragraph on what i've tried--was trying to not make it too long. as i said, took the cardstock and ran it through my p3045 on 20lb and plain paper, fused perfectly. the vendor shipped me a fuser but it's for a 3155 (fk3302) and when i asked them for something in writing saying they would not void the warranty if i installed that instead of the fk3202 i got no reply. i've lost the sale after 2 months of dickin around so i'm just trying to get a good used p3145 that i could sell. as far as i'm concerned the fuser should have been sent a long time ago so i am laying most of the blame on my vendor and maybe kyocera. had i bought this from amazon the issue would have been taken care of 2 months ago-- and i'm not a huge amazon fan. thank-you-- tuey

    302V393060 --> 302V393061 - FK-3202 P3145 do not put a different FK it won't help.

Fuser revison is for wear between 150k and 350k and is not for any heating problem. Surface material changed to prevent wear of sep claws.

Cassette spec weight limit is 120gsm, MP is 220gsm.

If you cannot determine the GSM of your problem stock then there is no reason to assume it's supported.

If you cannot set your media type properly then even supported paper isn't going to work.

    I'm surprised, frankly.

You complain about a heavy media not fusing, but will not attempt media type changes, or even figure out what media weight it is? A person with over 30 years experience should know better.

I don't think that I can be of any further assistance. =^..^=

Re: p3145 fuser problems out of box

trying all applicable paper options is the first thing i tried , even went back and tried it a second time and took notes so i could be sure i didn't miss any. then there was the firmware and making sure i was running the correct kyo drivers. all of this was done per the request of the vendors tech people. i am past that and into the troubleshooting for fuser or power supply issues-- again as per the instructions of the vendor. they control the warranty process so i do what they ask. my questions were A- are these fusers on backorder status as i was told it would take weeks to get one B what are the chances of getting a DOA on this machine as i've never had to do that before. C and how does the labor reimbursement thing work as i've never had to do that before and the vendor tells me this is possible. sorry for all the confusion- as a 30+ year printer tech i would never go on a forum and ask questions without fully trying to diagnose the problem. tuey
