M3540D makes noise in sleep mode.

M3540D makes noise in sleep mode.
The printer constantly checks the connection to the computer. About every 2 minute green bulb signal. If I hang out the printer from the computer, the bulb is on, fixed on sleep mode.

Re: M3540D makes noise in sleep mode.

Can a factory reset fix the problem?
If so, how do I do it?
    The exact model M3540DN
    Thanks

Not that it's a huge crisis that a fan still runs ... but you can set the sleep mode to a certain value ... say 5 minutes, then low power mode to 6 minutes. See page 8-38 of your operators manual ... or get it here:

Explain to me how the normal functioning of cooling fans is a crisis. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I probably did not explain the problem properly
The noise is not from the fan
When the printer is in sleep mode, the green light is on all the time "Energy Saver"
But when the printer is connected to a USB or LAN computer
The light bulb is blinking. Then it turns on continuously, and flashes again, and any transition between flashing and continuous on, makes a sound from the printer

If you mean relay clicking sound it's completely normal. So easy fix - ignore it.

    Yes it is the noise
I have 4 printers in my office.
Any printer that passes into a quiet state makes such a sound. And that's okay.
But this printer makes the noise every 16 seconds (I checked now)

You can try to disconnect the USB and network cable. This ensures that no outside "source" is trying to connect to the device. If this doesn't help, try to reset the device to factory defaults. In CCRX go to Management serttings>Reset>Reset device to factory dafaults>Initialize. Check if reset had helped before reapplying any configuration.

If I disconnect the USB and LAN
The printer enters sleep mode. A green light is on all the time.
    And makes no noise
