Lexmark MX410 controller replacement
We went to replace this board and an insert in the package says we need the Service Restore Tool. Is this really needed? I do not want to do the replacement until I know the consequences. The manual also shows only the Service Restore Tool. Is there an optional method for saving and restoring the settings?
Thanks.

Re: Lexmark MX410 controller replacement
What? The manual I have says:
Installation note: After the new controller board is installed, perform scanner manual registration, see “Scanner manual registration” on page 178 and printhead registration, see “Printhead assembly adjustments” on page 206.
If you want to make sure this WAS the problem, put the unit into the DIAGNOSTICS MENU (hold 3 and 6 when turning the unit on) so it doesn't copy machine ID from the control panel board.

Re: Lexmark MX410 controller replacement
service restore tool is built to backup the necessary stuff to import into the new controller board once it has been installed. if you don't, then you could lose some stuff. the service manual should describe the entire process of using said tool. all the one's that i have seen in each service manual does.
