    MS-410 supply not recognized

Have one of these printers that gives a message of unsupported cartridge error 39 error. Someone in our searches mentioned that possibly downgrading the firmware (it was recently flashed to the very newest in an attempt to clear the message} is a workaround to this? If so, to what level does it need to go down to?Thanks for the helpChrisTJL Copy

Correct. Customer is running compatible toners instead of OEM. Hasn't been an issue until the latest firmware upgrade.

Ya know Phil I had hoped after our last go around, you were actually going to be of some constructive use to helping solve the issue, but once again I was wrong in my assumption. That's my bad. How about in the future we just agree to disagree and you're welcome to just skip past any posts you see in the future.

    THANKS

    Lance,
The firmware version was at version level NH.CY.N331. Thanks for any help you have to offer.

I apologize in advance Chris, but, running aftermarket supplies is a risk the CUSTOMER takes. It's not OUR (our meaning a tech) responsibility to MAKE aftermarket supplies work with a product. Genuine OEM supplies = a more stable/reliable printing experience. Tell them to pony up or deal with the problems. Upgrading firmware is a standard practice.

totally agree my last boss who pushed compatible EVERYTHING got burned really bad.. besides losing a LARGE part of his customer base.

And this is WHY in these discussions I try to bow out .. not sure what 'other' problem he has had about my comments, BUT in 31+ years, quite a few after the COMPAT market started up, I have spent too much time chasing bad toners ** printers/copiers/fax and yes even inkjet ** and cleaning up massive toner spills... uggh

I hope he gets his issue straight .. but it could have messed up more than transfer/fuser.

Not to go off topic, but, we had a customer with a Dell color printer (Xerox) that was complaining of ghosting (toner burned onto the fusing roller in the fuser) on prints. The printer was still under warranty, HOWEVER, they were using aftermarket toners (BIIIIIG NO, NO!). I told them flat out that I won't cover it.
