    Lexmark MS810 intermittent blue screen/firmware error

    I had a call today from a car dealer that has a Lexmark MS810N. According to the person I spoke to, she's getting an intermittent blue screen when she tries to print that says something about firmware.

    That's all the info I could get from her. Anyone?

    Likely showing a Firmware Error.

    Most of the time updating the firmware will fix it.

    Current is LW80.DNC.P210 released 1/16/2022. You are they can get it on support.lexmark.com

    You might be able to update the firmware remotely if they will let you.

    I don't work on Lexmark. What's the procedure to updating firmware? I just loaded firmare on a USB stick.

    If you can get it to take USB firmware that's wonderful. It's about the easiest firmware you'll ever load. I'd say about half of the time, when you have a firmware error, it won't. Next try accessing the webpage. You can upload firmware through the webpage.

    If it won't take firmware from USB or webpage, you may end up changing the controller board.

    On another tack, some firmware errors are caused by driver issues, i.e.: wrong driver, a driver setting, or printing webpages. =^..^=
    If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    I just returned from the service call on the Lexmark printer.

    On arrival, I found that the only time they were getting the firmware error is when printing from a webpage. So, I updated the firmware from my USB stick with no problem. This, however, didn't resolve the problem.

    I then attempted to install the latest drivers but I needed a domain username & password. They don't have an IT dept as it's handled by some local IT company. They called that company and they couldn't find the login credentials. The general manager is now involved and he struck me as idiot but whatever...

    The GM looked thru his phone for the login credentials but what he found no longer worked. He then tells me that he doesn't think that the problem is the drivers. I wasn't gonna argue with him and I told him that I couldn't guarantee it would resolve the problem but that it would be a good idea to keep the drivers up-to-date. He seemed uninterested and told me that once their PC's, printers, ect were setup that they usually aren't messed with again. I gave them my bill and wished 'em good luck.
