    I use EMG-HZ which are a passive pickup...not like the EMG 81's which are an active pickup.
    I tend to stay away from active pickups ...they always sound to dry for my liking.
    Have a search of Ebay and see if you can find some EMG-HZ.
    The ULTIMATE les paul replacement pickup is the Duncan Seth Lover.

    Kewl..I collect Made in Japan axes....I own two Tokai...a clownburst from 1985 with EMG's in it and a White SG I just got a hold of.
    Also own a Maya flying Vee,a John Petrucci model Music man and a Legacy Explorer with EMG's in it as well.
