I'm from Portugal and recently I've been contracted to work on a company whose main business is selling and assist Multifunction Printers.
My main activity is IT HelpDesk but I need to know some of the most common things and issues of the printing world and machines, so I Signed in your forum.

I hope that I can find here usefull information, and maybe share some of my knowledge with you too.

Best Wishes to all of you.

    Welcome!

It's not uncommon for IT people to get thrown into the role of service tech. A lot of the people that become service techs have IT background and it's helpful, but it's a difficult situation for you.

Service techs get immersed 9 hrs a day in copier repairs, working on 100 models or more across (5) or more manufacturers. You'll see maybe two models, and working on them 1 hour a day maybe. By the time you've acquired enough experience to consider yourself fairly competent those models will be gone, and you'll have two new models.

I'm going to suggest a couple things:
    1) search existing posts for solutions.
    2) use the service manual.
    3) try things before you post.
    4) include error and jam codes in your post, and know what they mean before posting.
    5) include quality samples when you have a quality problem.

    Again welcome, and good luck.
    =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it
