Toshiba Printer Incorrectly Communicating Paper Size to Computers

    Hello,

I have come across an issue where for all of my users, the printer paper size reverts to A4 if they select a tray when trying to print. It happens on every person's computer, and none are having region settings issues or anything of the sort, so I'm inclined to think that there is an issue somewhere on the printer's end. When I go into the printer device settings, either on the printer or on a computer over the internet, it correctly shows the trays' default size as letter. However, if I go into the printing preferences on any one of these computers, it instead lists it as A4, and any attempt to change it is reverted back upon closing the dialog window.

Has anyone else come across this issue?

Make sure you have the correct driver installed not windows found. go to web site and download.

go to printer preferences under default printer tab select the settings you wish as default ie color b/w etcc.........

Other problem it could be document is an A4 size check in whatever program you are using

The correct printer driver would be the main thing. Is this a printer or an mfp? Which model number?

It happens on both of our Toshiba MFP's (eStudio 5560c and 656), on all computers in the office. Our HP MFP (600 m602), however, hasn't had the issue.

    Ok, great....good starting point

1: Are you using the Toshiba Universal Driver 2, the one that Windows populates which I believe is V4, or some sort of Generic one?

2: Did you accidentally install an international version of the driver?

3: Did you download the drivers from the Toshiba website or did you do the File Folder -> Edit Address -> \\IPADDRESS method?

4: Did you go to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers -> Printing Preferences and check to see if they were hard set to A4 in there?

I suspect that your print driver is being shared out on a server. Depending on the individual user rights:

    * you may be able to change the defaults on the server,
    * or you may be change the rights on your individual login
    * or you may be able to make temporary changes, but it reverts back to the server defaults when you next log in.
    * or you may not be able to change the defaults even temporarily, only make changes on individual print jobs.

My suggestion is to contact you local IT, and maybe recommend changing the server default to a US size.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Ah yes, the infamous server share. Didn't think of that even though I ran into it yesterday.

I have a customer that I spent a solid hour setting up every single preset for them and custom paper sizes and then their IT migrated them to a server, put in xps drivers for 6570c's and locked them all out of any custom paper additions. Oh boy.

Same deal: I was out on an HP wide format. The enduser could not select a specific paper roll or even a specific paper size.

It turns out that the new IT let WSD install what drivers it wanted. This one had literally zero features. Plus there were a bunch of stranded print jobs floating around in the queue that would not delete. And on the print drivers that you could change the defaults, it would revert back to server defaults at the next login. I hope they weren't paying much for this kind of IT support. =^..^=

Did we help at all? Got it figured out?
