    OKI B721 Blank prints?

I have been asked to look at a customers OKI B721 which they bought onlien about a year ago, I've never seen one of them before and the problem is that its printing blank prints. They say that even the internal reports come out blank. The toner is showing at 60%.

Im not sure where to begin really as these are LED printers i understand?

    Anyone help

do you have the service manual?

there are a number of service mode test to check for issues.

are they using crappy compatible toners?

what are the life left on drums?

if it is an LED problem doubtful but they carry 5yr warranty

Make sure the LED head is not out of place. I've seen more than once where the customer has knocked it up so its not pointing at the the drum unit while pulling out the drum & toner unit

No I dont have a servoce manual
They are using genuine OKI toners
The printer has only done 41,000 prints so im guessing the drum is ok at that print count
I am going there tomorrow to take a look

No it doesn't throw an error code. That Led head is very easy to knock out of place as its kept in place by two springs. People have a tendency to slam the the lid and if that LED head isn't lined up directly above the drum unit blank copies will happen. I did go back in some of our service records on that machine and did see where we did replace a hv board on one of those units for the same symptoms.

Hi guys, may thanks for your assistance, it was the LED head being knocked out of position it was facing the fuser. Flipped it back, refitted the springs and it worked perfectly.

Leebs, sorry to jump in that and and don't want to belittle our friend Phil help but scanmc nailed it spot on!
    Stupid OKI design though.

i have been servicing Oki products since the impact days.. have had many 5501's that have had the leds knocked out of place.. and they -=DO =- kick an error if the cable is detached from the LED bar.
