    OKI ES9465 hard drive replacement

A few weeks ago the hard drive failed on our OKI ES9465 (F101_1). This printer was graciously donated to our community theater by a local printing equipment supplier 4 years ago, after being retired from a church office. That supplier is no longer in business, so I don't have a local resource to work with on the repair.

Through various web searches and a lot of reading on this forum I have been able to identify the required replacement hard drive as a Toshiba with Wipe Technology. I have purchased a new drive and have the instructions from the service manual on how to install and format.

What I am missing are the needed firmware files. I realize it's not best form for my first post to be a request for firmware files, but that is the current situation. We are a small theater group with limited resources. I did make a contribution to the forum, so hoping that may help.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

Your discontinued Okidata is a relabeled discontinued Toshiba copier.

I do not have access to Okidata firmware.

Okidata exited the America's market several years ago.

Thanks SalesServiceGuy. I did find that it is indeed very similar to the Toshiba EStudio 4555. From my research they do share some of the firmware files, but there are specific OKI files that are different.

... I think you own a boat anchor.

Do you know how many black and colour clicks are on the copier?

If colour is over 50,000 prints, you will soon have to replace the expensive CMY colour developer at approx $1,000.00 plus have the know how to replace it. The black developer is relatively inexpensive. Toshiba original parts will likely work for the developers in the OKI but no guarantee.

The e4555c was a nice copier in its day. If you want to keep this copier you are going to have to reach out to a Toshiba tech and pay some money for him to refurb it, assuming someone offers you the Okidata firmware.

Re: OKI ES9465 hard drive replacement

Unless you have acquired a Toshiba original SED-HDD, the HDD you have is no good.

It sounds like you got a copier for free that worked for four years. Time to budget for a new copier.

From working with lots of theaters and movie productions you need a reliable print device in this paper intensive environment.

If your task is printing only Letter/ Legal size documents in black I would recommend a new e409s but probably the e478s with a much lower operating cost.

If colour, the Toshiba e330AC on a 66 month lease. Approx $75.00 month which is a lot less than your up front costs and aggravation to keep a discontinued copier going.

All three of this print devices are intended for an operating life of approx 300,000 pages.

Beyond that you need to step up to a e2010AC or e2515AC.

Because of COVID, quality used Toshiba copiers are hard to come by.
