Brother MFC-J6520DW shutting down, does not wake up

    Hello

Brother MFC-J6520DW immediately shutting down when powering on.
And then does not wake up.
Holding power button down and then plugging it in works fine until it goes to sleep then does not wake up again.

I have had this problem before... i know i have to replace some supercapacitor on main board.
There was some guide somewhere and this problem was even described in manual, but i canīt find any info anymore...

    Anyone helping me out?

    Your info seems not correct:
it is not 0.22uf it is 0.22 Farad.

    220.000 uF

i guess it is a goldcap or supercap and not a normal condensator.

Here is a link to a video that shows how to fix it and where to buy the parts Brother mfc-j6920dw mfc-j4620dw 6520dw 6720dw NO POWER, won't turn on, dead repair [SOLVED] - YouTube

It is advisable not to remove the motherboard from the printer and to solder top down as the boards are multi layered sandwiched together. Removing the board and working/soldering from the underside can cause complete board failure. It is also advisable to use lead based solder.

Thanks for sharing this, is this also suitable for the MFC-L3xxx series? We do RMA for brother and during the last month I think we had to swap quite a lot of main PCBs. I'll definetly have a look at the voltage next time we see a "dead" machine.

The L3745cdw L3750cdw L3770cdw L3230cdw L3270cdw L3730cdn L3710c are all suffering a Plague of Dead No Power failures and the problem seems to be getting exponentially worse as months go bye (4 printers per week) for my local area. I am unsure if the problem is only with countries that have 230v or higher mains voltage. In Australia we run 240v mains but every printer I have examined the Power Board has stamped on it 200V. On every failed power board I test the Zener Protection Diode on the Secondary side is always blown short circuit which suggests the primary side has spiked high over its constant regulated voltage. I am starting to think that maybe all the home grid connected solar power systems are spiking the mains voltage in certain areas (suburb clusters) high over the tolerance of the board and the boards are being overdriven at their upper limit of tolerance being rated at 200v.

It is a work in process to solve.

We don't have a lot of problems with the L3xxx power supples (yet) but pretty often the Main PCB fails us (probably 5 main pcb vs 2 PSU) - here we have 230V so it's a little less to handle for the PSU compared to your 240V. I guess 200V is just a name tag for the 200v+x regions. Since we mainly handle RMA for brother we don't really fiddle around much so we just swapped out the PCB.

    @J6520 Problem:

I just took a look at the parts manual and there's a funny entry:

    (1-1) A62082001 1 CONDENSER* ADD
    2 LT2610001 1 POWER SUPPLY PCB ASSY FOR US/CAN
    2 LT2611005 1 POWER SUPPLY PCB ASSY FOR CHN/IDN
2 LT2824001 1 POWER SUPPLY PCB ASSY FOR TWN
2 LT2823001 1 POWER SUPPLY PCB ASSY FOR BRA
2 LT2611001 1 POWER SUPPLY PCB ASSY EXCEPT FOR US/CAN/CHN/TWN/IDN/BRA
*Regarding the procedure for replacing condenser, please see the Service Support
    Information (Ref. No.1000049318) on DataBank.

You can actually order the condenser/goldcap from brother. Haven't checked the price but usually brother parts are really cheap.
