    EPSON WorkForce Enterprise MFPs

anyone come across these machines or sell them?

Not the smaller personal ones but the larger office machines. Like these things...haven't come across them yet really. We did have an account recently replace an older Ricoh/Savin color machine with one (Savin C3030).

Went to a demo on them a few years back. All I can say is the if customer maybe disappointed when the compare the print quality to a laser machine. When using special inkjet paper, the print was much better, But the cost per print goes up considerably.

Yep this is true, It's described as "Business Color". So it's Epson is not suitable for people that need good looking color. But we have em in Law firms and Gov' where color isn't needed to be great.

We've had those out for quite a while. The more paper you push through them, the better they run.
Right now we have a few 75 and 100ppm mono and colour maschines out that have 1-3m pages on the clock.

If you maintain them well (which mostly consists of cleaning the sensors and the drawer belt unit), they basically run trouble free.
Especially with the more recent units. The older ones had some trouble with kinking vacuum tubes near the cleaning unit, or failing HVPS for the drawer belt + the drawer belts themselves)
Those are very labour easy jobs, however.

However, weak points are definitely the scanners.
They're not very fast and will slow down after a few duplex pages. And the copiers do not have OCR on-board.
If you have large scan jobs, you have to decide whether to use ADF or the flatbed. You can't switch between in one scan job!
However you can use free software like Document Capture Pro by Epson to get advanced scanning features. It also allows to switch between ADF and flatbad in large scan jobs.

If you want good colours, you need proper paper, which will drive up printing costs.
The ink is indelible, so they can be used for lawyers and such. They usually don't need super high quality prints.

The older units like 17590, 20590 didn't have punching options on their finishers.
Newer units such as 20600, 20750 and 21000 have that. But make sure to measure properly because those finishers take up a lot of space!

They are coming out with a new model and a retrofit to remove the extra unit that connected from the main machine to the finisher. That extra unit wasted so much space.

Our sales team had been on a presentation of the newer units. We've heard about the same info.
But yes, the old bridge unit (Old and new) wasted a loooooot of space.
