Hi,
After initializing and waiting for awhile I get a "communication error" message on a OKI cx3641 printer
Reseated the ram and connectors on the main board but error stayed.
Any help appreciated

What happened prior? why were you invited for a service call?
Check if HDD is seated properly. If yes - rewrite a system software. It comes on thumb drive from OKI ( you have to be authorized OKI service dealer to get one), I hope you are.
it takes less than 10 minutes and most likely will solve your problem.
Some time ago when we started dealing with a lot of these I went for it as I had 3-4 machines glitching..
15 exams - 3641 is on the top of the list and it is a last exam you take.

I bought this machine on E-Bay, and no I am not an an authorized dealer.
I am a Canon and Xerox certified Tech, no experience with OKI yet.
The reason i bought it is for our own use in our print shop, and the ability to print on heavy 300gsm stock.
I am located outside the USA; Willemstad Curacao (in the Caribbean).
I am trying to find a a service manual to buy on Internet, so far got a parts manual only.
Will try reseating the HDD.
Just in case, do you know how i can get a thumb drive?

Hi, I understand.
PM me your email, preferably Gmail if you have one - I can send you manuals - no problem.
As far as an System software tool - thumbdrive thingy - I was given one by OKI upon completion of exam.
If your problem leads to a software on HDD - I can offer you to mail it to me - I will re-image it and send it back.
Should you decide to go for it - please do so soon, we're almost sold out of all oki CX3641's...
