besides drawing a rather good salary i DID get compensated...

but seeing how you only start in the industry in 2018 .. the wages are DOWN from when I was getting paid nicely.

being in this industry for 31+ years I have never heard of it.

And I have been in the industry for just over 48 years and have not heard of it either. The dealer I worked for was a long time member of BTA, Business Technology Association, and its predecessor NOMDA, National Office Machine Dealer Association and had attended many of their conventions and never once saw a booth for them.
