A week of drowsy trading got no lift from the latest prospect of more government spending.
President-Elect Joe Biden on Thursday evening unveiled a $1.9 trillion "American Rescue Plan" that includes a number of provisions, including $1,400 stimulus checks, supplemental unemployment benefits and a $15-per-hour federal minimum wage.

And yet, stocks went red on Friday.
Perhaps Wall Street had already baked in all of its expectations for the much-anticipated plan. Or perhaps the market remained distracted by COVID itself, which is still taking a hefty toll here in the U.S. as the vaccine rollout seems to crawl forward. Also of some concern was the start of the Q4 earnings season – mixed results from Citigroup (C, -6.9%) and Wells Fargo (WFC, -7.8%) weighed on those stocks and the rest of the financial sector.

There is a global realization amongst investors that there is a tremendous amount of national debt being piled up around the world. Treasuries are printing currency as fast as possible further diluting the world gold standard.

Biden will be calling on the best financial minds in the world to try and navigate the USA economy forward in a financially responsible way. Trump left the USA and global economies in a perilous state.

Biden's challenge to revise the economy will be greater than the challenge that President Obama when he first took office. Biden has the advantage of that experience. Obama never had to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic paired with an economic downfall.

Biden's only real lever is to spend his way out of this whole.

I think the entire USA has to patriotically buy in to Biden's plan for the USA to succeed. A divided nation helps no one during this grave dual crisis.

There are many people on this thread and in social media who want Biden to fail and resulting in the USA falling further before he even taker his first day in office.

FBI Director Christopher Wray said on Thursday that more than 100 arrests had been made in connection to the Jan. 6 takeover of the U.S. Capitol by a Trump-supporting mob.

Wray also said that law enforcement was aware of and monitoring “an extensive amount of concerning online chatter” ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration next week, but added that authorities were having to sift through “what’s aspirational versus what’s intentional.”

When Congress returns next week, lawmakers will face a $5,000 fine for bypassing newly installed metal detectors to enter the House chamber.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said the fine for the second offense will be $10,000, with the fines deducted from lawmakers’ salaries, according to multiple media outlets.

The fines come after several members of Congress reportedly bypassed the detectors, which were installed after last week’s attack on the U.S. Capitol by right-wing extremists.

FBI would only monitor something if the Flags were thrown/Info collected. Like LEO's, the FBI cannot be everywhere listening to all things said. (i would take local LEO's over FBI even tho I have a friend or two still left there)
