NATO officials say they were briefed on Russian bounties on US soldiers in Afghanistan — even though Trump claims he wasn't

because there were NATO FORCES INVOLVED. Our government has certain protocols ( you said one time you served in the military?, so YOU should know that FACT!)

there is a military dept called U.S. Dept of Defense ( DOD ) under them are the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

These leaders would receive such info... validate it...and THEN pass it on. To their superiors.

It's got it's own little title... you may of heard of it : " Chain Of Command "

OH? weren't you just bitchin about the number of people he's fired?

he shouldn't have listened to the 'advisors' during the picking process... should have cleaned ALL Depts of the higher ups.. and closed even more government positions down due to the duplicity factors.

Trump was briefed on Russian bounties earlier than thought, reports say

President Donald Trump received a written briefing in February about intelligence regarding potential bounties offered by Russians to Afghan militants to kill American service members, The New York Times reported.

The Associated Press, citing officials with direct knowledge of the matter, also reported that the White House was aware of the matter much earlier, in early 2019
    .
Trump and the White House have denied that the president had been briefed on the matter. The White House had also said that the intelligence underpinning the claim was unverified.

Spam much? This is like the 3rd time in a week that you've plastered the same un-cited headline in 2 - 3 different threads. You're feckless and hopeless!

While we do not normally discuss such matters, we constantly evaluate intelligence reports and brief the President as necessary,” National Security Advisor Robert C. O’Brien said in a statement. “Because the allegations in recent press articles have not been verified or substantiated by the Intelligence Community, President Trump had not been briefed on the items.

“To those government officials who betray the trust of the people of the United States by leaking classified information, your actions endanger our national security. No matter the motivation, there is never a justification for such conduct,” O’Brien concluded. “Let me be clear that there is nothing more important to President Trump than America’s security and the safety of our men and women in uniform. He has demonstrated this commitment time and again.”

The Department of Defense (DOD) and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) also put out statements on the matter, with the DOD saying that it has “no corroborating evidence to validate” the allegations in The New York Times’ report and ODNI saying that the leaks are criminal.

“To date, DOD has no corroborating evidence to validate the recent allegations found in open-source reports.

ODNI said that the selective leaking of any classified information “disrupts the vital interagency work to collect, assess, and mitigate threats and places our forces at risk. It is also, simply put, a crime.”

“We are still investigating the alleged intelligence referenced in recent media reporting and we will brief the President and Congressional leaders at the appropriate time,” ODNI continued. “This is the analytic process working the way it should. Unfortunately, unauthorized disclosures now jeopardize our ability to ever find out the full story with respect to these allegations.”
