Depending on where you read, that number is different. I've seen $600 - $1000 per year per household presently, and expected to climb to $1,200 - 1,500 in 2020.

I've also seen $1,000.00 - 1,500 presently, up to $2,000 - 3,600 in 2020. A lot of this based on "Threatened tariffs and Estimations".

Regardless of what it costs, it needed to be done. And most Americans won't notice the tariffs in everyday life. They will still buy their coffee at 80 cents more than it was, they will still buy the shoes that now cost $5 more, they will still buy the phones that cost an extra $20 and so on without even flinching. We've been pushed around by the global economic/ trade community for far too long, and we're finally standing up and saying "Enough is enough, we won't be screwed over any longer!".

Kyocera USA is forced to announce price increases on Oct 01 due to China USA trade war.

Kyocera is actively working to relocate Chinese A3 copier manufacturing capability destined for the USA to Vietnam.

    September 03, 2019

To our Valued Kyocera Dealer Partners,

We wish to extend our appreciation for your daily support and promotion of the Kyocera and Copystar products. Through your commitment and loyalty, Kyocera continues to increase market share and experience positive sales growth across our product segments.

As many of you are aware, the U.S. Government recently announced that it will apply a 15% tariff on a broad list of goods manufactured in China effective September 1, 2019. These tariffs, along with the ones previously enacted in July of 2018, effectively cover all our products manufactured in China. Specifically, the tariffs imposed in 2018 applied mainly to our maintenance kits. The new tariffs apply to our toner, MFPs, printers and accessories. To date, we have done our best to absorb the additional costs, but the cumulative nature of these new tariffs will affect our cost of goods in the future.

Based on our inventory levels, we have enough inventory in our U.S. warehouses to fulfill all anticipated orders in the month of September. However, we do not have enough inventory to cover your orders for the month of October and onward. This means, that all inventory we import from China from and after September will be subject to the tariffs.

Accordingly, although we will try to absorb as much of these new costs as we can, we must continue to evaluate the situation to determine if additional action is necessary, including the possibility of a price increase on our products. As always, we will continue to try to maintain competitive prices and to bring you the same quality products and services. We appreciate your understanding during these ever-changing times and will continue to keep you advised.

    Sincerely,

    Ed Bialecki
    Senior Vice President, Sales

Moving plants from China DOES NOTHING for the US. Moving to a cheaper foreign country only produces high profits for the manufacturer. ZERO jobs for US.
The only way to move plants back to the US is to require 50% or more parts made in the USA be put into whatever they make. Until then China will just wait out the polices of the TRUMP administration or figure out a way to get around the trade tariffs.

Guess WHO pays for the Tariffs YEP YOU DO!

I doubt wherever Kyocera is going to be made,it was not going to be the US anyway, China Is screwing the US so I am glad to see companies moving somewhere else. Even when I buy American I am not really buying American. I have a Dodge ram van. It has Fiat stamped all over the place but fiat has it made in turkey. I liked the good old days when I could buy a American product that was made by Americans.

Hundreds of Chinese goods exempted from Trump's tariffs

The Trump administration has excluded Christmas tree lights, a series of pet supplies, plastic drinking straws and hundreds of other products from a 25 percent duty President Donald Trump imposed on $250 billion worth of Chinese goods, according to three notices set to be published in the Federal Register on Friday.

The move comes as the United States and China are preparing for another round of high-level trade talks in early October. But the exclusions are less about placating Beijing than they are an effort to provide relief to some U.S. companies who say they have been harmed by Trump's tariffs and can't find an alternative source of supply.

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative did not respond to a request for an estimate of the value of trade represented by the exclusions.

Other products on the three lists of tariff exclusions include certain single-speed bikes, water drinking fountains for pets, various types of pumps, heat exchangers, compressors, chest-type coolers, upright freezers, household water filter cartridges, anesthesia masks, electric-powered skateboards, three-wheeled carriages used by people with disabilities, chain-link fence panels, tractor-trailer skirts, x-ray tables, wick-burning torches for outdoor use, and dog harnesses and dog leashes.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce in partnership with RSM US LLP, an audit and tax consulting firm, released a quarterly survey report on Thursday showing that 40 percent of midsize company leaders say Trump's tariffs on imported goods are posing challenges for their business. Twenty-six percent also reported being hurt by retaliatory tariffs that China and other countries have imposed in response to Trump's duties over the last two years.

“Rising tariffs and policy uncertainty are preventing midsize businesses — who employ millions of Americans — from investing and growing,” Neil Bradley, U.S. Chamber of Commerce executive vice president and chief policy officer, said in a statement.

"To guard against a possible recession, policymakers need to restore economic certainty, and that means deescalating trade tensions with China, passing [the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement] and investing in the future through an infrastructure package," Bradley added.

USTR said it considered a number of factors in determining whether to grant an exclusion request to U.S importers facing additional costs as a result of Trump's trade actions.

Those include whether the particular product, or a comparable one, is available only from China, whether the imposition of additional duties on the product would cause severe economic harm to the applicant or to other U.S. interests and whether the particular product is strategically important or related to China's “Made in China 2025” industrial program or to other Chinese industrial programs.

Trump initially imposed duties on $50 billion worth of Chinese goods that he said benefited from Chinese government support under the "Made in China 2025" initiative. But when Beijing retaliated, Trump expanded his action to include products outside his original target zone.

By the end of the year, Trump will have imposed either a 30 percent or a 15 percent duty on as much as $550 billion worth of Chinese goods as a result of tariff hikes set to take effect in October and December.

The pending tariff exclusions USTR will publish on Friday fall into three batches, based on when duties first went into effect in 2018. Exclusions from a total product list of $34 billion will apply retroactively from July 6, 2018; exclusions from a $16 billion list will apply retroactively from Aug. 23, 2018; and exclusions from a $200 billion list will apply retroactively from Sept. 24, 2018.

The exclusions will last for a year for products from the $34 billion and $16 billion product lists, but only until Aug. 7, 2020 for products from the $200 billion product list, USTR said.

473 product types of many thousands imported into the USA from China are excluded from tariffs totalling roughly 13% of $250B = $32.5B.

Many of these product types like Xmas lights are selected to reduce the impact on US consumers during the critical Xmas shopping season.

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/us-...iffs-1.5291005

The products run the gamut from consumer products such as lamp shades, Christmas lights, coffee filters, dog leashes and bicycles to industrial products such as electric motors and generators, all the way to highly sophisticated technology components such as ultrasonic scanners and MRI parts.

According to Chinese media outlet CCTV, the entire list covers about one-eighth — or less than 13 per cent — of the original list of $250 billion worth of Chinese goods that Trump had targeted in his trade war earlier this year.

The US Trade Relations documents make it clear, however, that the exemptions are not permanent, which leaves the door open to reimposing them later on.

Copiers, printers, parts and consumables are not excluded.

Multiple sources indicate an 8% price increase on all Kyocera copiers and accessories effective Oct 01 due to USA tariffs. Dealers who have the financial ability are stocking up in Sept.

There is fresh talk of price increases at Ricoh, Xerox and HP.

You know what the funny thing or real harm will be? When the tariffs get removed the price increases won't drop. It's like those fuel surcharges from ups/fedex...when oil/gas plummeted they didn't remove or even reduce the surcharges. Once a cost goes up, they keep it.
