Election Integrity Win: Texas Supreme Court Blocks Democrats' Vote-By-Mail Plan

The Texas Supreme Court on Friday blocked a lower-court order that had allowed residents to vote by mail if they cite concerns about catching the coronavirus at polling places.
Republican state Attorney General Ken Paxton petitioned the court for the stay after an appeals court upheld a lower-court ruling last month that lifted restrictions on mail-in voting.

The stay prevents county election officials from formally taking mail-in ballot applications from voters afraid of coronavirus exposure, which they can do beginning 60 days before an election.
Texas held its primary in March, and it wasn’t immediately clear whether the high court would hear arguments and issue a final ruling before Election Day in November.
Voting by mail in Texas is generally limited to those 65 or older or those with a “sickness or physical condition” that prevents voting in person.

Paxton petitioned the Republican-dominated high court after officials in some predominantly Democratic areas approved measures to allow voters to claim a disability and request mail-in ballots simply by claiming to be worried about getting sick at polling places.
County officials and Texas Democrats cast Paxton’s move as an effort to disrupt the election and an ongoing voting case.

The attorney general’s request contends officials in counties that include Dallas, Houston, Austin, El Paso and the border community of Brownsville have broadened eligibility to vote by mail beyond what the Legislature intended.
The ruling comes as the virus has deepened the partisan divide over mail-in voting, with President Donald Trump arguing it is ripe for fraud and Democrats embracing the practice, claiming publicly to believe it to be the safest way to vote during the pandemic.

“Protecting the integrity of elections is one of my most important and sacred obligations,” Paxton said in a statement. “The Legislature has carefully limited who may and may not vote by mail. The Travis County trial court’s decision to allow everyone to vote by mail is contrary to state law and will be reversed on appeal.
“I am pleased that today the Texas Supreme Court confirmed that my office may continue to prosecute voter fraud and issue guidance on mail-in ballots while that appeal plays out.”

“The Republican Texas Supreme Court is wrong to force the people of Texas to choose between their health and their right to vote,” Hinojosa claimed in a statement. “They would have Texans die, just so they can hold on to power. Voters should have the ability to vote-by-mail during a pandemic if they feel their health is in danger.”
“We will continue to fight like hell to protect every eligible Texan’s right to vote and have their voices heard by their government,” Hinojosa added.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

exas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa called the decision “a dark day for our democracy.”

Yeah, it is pretty disturbing what The Reps will do to discourage voting. They sure are anti-democratic.

Just do not try that on anyone who might have HIV. You would be exposing yourself to his blood.

Primary Opponent Hammers Ocasio-Cortez Over Unpaid Tax Bill

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York is being called out for being delinquent on a $2,000 tax bill.
“She just thinks she’s better than everyone else. Clearly, she’s worse,” said Hank Sheinkopf, spokesman for Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, who is running against Ocasio Cortez in a Democratic primary next month, according to the New York Post.

In 2012, Ocasio-Cortez founded Brook Avenue Press to publish children’s stories showing the Bronx in a favorable light.
In October 2016, the state forcibly dissolved the company, an action that can be taken in New York state when a business fails to pay its taxes.
The New York State Tax Department filed a warrant against the business in July 2017, seeking $1,618.36.

The bill, which is now $2,088.78, was unpaid as of Friday.
    We are experiencing historic unemployment.
The working people of the Bronx and Queens pay @AOC close to $200,000 a year. So why can’t she pay a 7 year old tax bill? Ask her. https://twitter.com/nypost/status/1262109309930024968
    — Michelle Caruso-Cabrera (@MCaruso_Cabrera) May 17, 2020

Ocasio-Cortez’s camp insists the bill was a mistake. “The congresswoman is still in the process of contesting the tax warrant. The business has been closed for several years now, and so we believe that the state Tax Department has continued to collect the franchise tax in error,” spokeswoman Lauren Hitt said.
“As anyone who’s tried to contest a tax bill in error knows, it takes time,” she said.
That explanation did not play well on Twitter.
She needs to pay her fair share

@AOC You would think the person in congress wanting to redistribute tax dollars the most… would pay her own tax bill in a timely manner. 7 years unpaid? Sends quite a message of “do what I say.. not what I do.”
    — Art Pepper (@ArtPepper11) May 18, 2020

Pay your taxes leech @AOC https://t.co/gEgGKMYea3
    — Deb Sheehan (@DebSheehan6) May 18, 2020

Earlier this month, Ocasio-Cortez failed to make it on the ballot on the Working Families Party — a line sought by progressive candidates in New York.
.@AOC has hurt working people of the Bronx and Queens with her votes and creates disunity within our party. Her own campaign spokesman ran away from her in March. No wonder why pro union forces don’t want her and neither do our neighborhoods. https://t.co/HdKL44lCwG
    — Michelle Caruso-Cabrera (@MCaruso_Cabrera) May 12, 2020
Ocasio-Cortez was required to submit just 15 signatures to make it on the ballot as the required total was reduced because of the coronavirus pandemic. After challenges by Caruso-Cabrera, Ocasio-Cortez was found to have only 13 valid signatures, according to The New York Times.

There is a movement in Australia to bring down the terrestrial 5G & 6G cell Towers and the drone/low orbital Space Weapons, along with those people orchestrating the vile Artifical Intelligence agenda.

Trump plans halt to National Guard deployments before retirement benefits kick in: report

The more than 40,000 National Guard members deployed to states to help in coronavirus relief may end up one day short of qualifying for federal benefits under the Post-9/11 GI bill once President Trump’s executive order deploying them expires on June 24.

An official with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said in an interagency call on May 12 reported on by Politico that the guardsmen will face a “hard stop” on June 24 to prevent them from reaching the 90 days of duty credit needed to qualify for early retirement and education benefits.

Deployed in late March, on June 24 most will hit 89 days of duty credit.

National Guard members must be enlisted for 20 years to qualify for a pension at age 60, but for every 90 days served in a federal emergency, they are able to speed up retirement by 3 months and qualify for reduced tuition at public universities.
