Google: Chinese and Iranian Hackers Targeted Campaigns of Biden and Trump

Google warned that foreign hackers targeted the campaigns of President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden during recent phishing attacks.
Reuters reported that cyberattacks targeting Trump staffers originated in Iran, while similar attacks against the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee were traced to China.

Both of the attempted hackings were state-sponsored, according to Shane Huntley, the head of Google’s Threat Analysis Group.
“Recently TAG saw China APT group targeting Biden campaign staff & Iran APT targeting Trump campaign staff with phishing,” Huntley reported on Twitter.
“No sign of compromise. We sent users our govt attack warning and we referred to fed law enforcement,” he said.

Huntley also shared a company blog post about email security that offers advice on how to avoid “government-backed phishing.”
“One of the main threats to all email users (whatever service you use) is phishing, attempts to trick you into providing a password that an attacker can use to sign into your account,” the blog post noted.

“Beyond phishing for the purposes of fraud, a small minority of users in all corners of the world are still targeted by sophisticated government-backed attackers,” Google said.
Reuters reported that the most recent attempt at hacking Trump’s campaign is not the first to originate in Iran.
Microsoft warned that a hacker group known as “Charming Kitten” targeted the president’s campaign in 2019.

Reuters reported that the same group has been identified by Google as the one behind the recent attempt to compromise Trump staffers.
A Biden campaign staffer commented on the attempted Chinese-sponsored attack, telling Reuters the campaign has been prepared for such an event.

“We are aware of reports from Google that a foreign actor has made unsuccessful attempts to access the personal email accounts of campaign staff,” the Biden campaign staffer said.
“We have known from the beginning of our campaign that we would be subject to such attacks and we are prepared for them,” the staffer added.

oh sure they cannot conduct a successful VIDEO TOWNHALL .. but have these hackers blocked? hmmm

Reuters reported that Russian hackers targeted companies associated with Burisma Holdings — where Biden’s son Hunter was a highly paid board member — earlier this year.
The wire service noted that the Trump campaign declined to comment on the matter, as did the FBI, Chinese diplomats in Washington and Iranian diplomats at the United Nations in New York.
Google is taking a proactive approach to issuing alerts about electronic espionage during the 2020 campaign after the subject became a heated topic in 2016, when Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign emails were obtained and released by Wikileaks.
Huntley warned on Twitter that people working on political campaigns should expect to become targets of online attacks.
“If you are working on a campaign this election cycle, your personal accounts may be targeted. Use the best protection you can,” Huntley wrote.
“Two factor authentication or Advanced Protection really can make a difference,” the Google security head added.

So we are supposed to feel good about a GOGGLE rep telling us everything will be ok.. as long as we use GOGGLE Security?

Fraud-Infested Food Stamp Program Gets $5 Million to “Strengthen Integrity”

Fraud is so rampant in the nation’s taxpayer-funded food stamp program that the government is spending more than $5 million to help curb it. Judicial Watch has long reported on the pervasive corruption in the multi-billion-dollar welfare plan that provides free food for tens of millions of poor people nationwide, but it seems to have reached a new high. The government’s answer is to spend even more taxpayer dollars to correct the problem. The money will be used to strengthen integrity activities by improving and expanding recipient fraud prevention in the costly food stamp endeavor, which was renamed Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by the Obama administration to eliminate the welfare stigma. The multi-million-dollar initiative will be known as SNAP Fraud Framework.
Like most bloated government initiatives, SNAP has long been plagued by waste. It is the country’s largest domestic food assistance enterprise and serves around 40 million low-income residents at a cost of more than $60 billion annually, according to figures released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Under Obama an unprecedented number of individuals received food stamps, shattering records in the six-decade-old welfare venture during the administration’s two terms. In several of the Obama years the USDA spent an eye-popping $80 billion to provide free groceries and during most of its tenure the administration dedicated well over $70 billion annually, the USDA figures show. At the height, in 2013, the agency spent $80 billion to give 48 million free groceries. The remarkable growth was part of Obama’s mission to eradicate “food insecure households” and his administration spent millions of dollars on ad campaigns to recruit more food stamp recipients, even doling out hefty cash rewards to local governments that signed up the most beneficiaries. One state even bragged about a $5 million performance bonus it got from the feds for its “swift processing of applications.”
In the years that followed, the fraud grew immensely with the alarming numbers well documented by the government. Last year the USDA released figures disclosing about $1.1 billion in food stamp fraud annually. Nearly 12% of retailers authorized by the government to accept food stamps engage in illegal practices, according to the agency. A few years ago, nearly 200 people were arrested in Florida for operating a sophisticated ring in which 22,000 fraudulent food stamp transactions totaling $3.7 million were recorded by a task force of local and federal authorities. In 2016 the feds busted the largest food stamp fraud operation in history, a $13 million scheme run by flea market retailers in the largely black and Hispanic areas of south Florida’s Miami-Dade County known as Opa-Locka and Hialeah.
In 2018 a federal audit revealed that “retailer trafficking” swindles the government out of more than a billion dollars a year while the USDA sits by. The agency assumes that 90% of the benefits redeemed in small stores and 40% in large stores were trafficked, according to the audit, which was conducted by the investigative arm of Congress. As if the widespread fraud were not bad enough, the USDA allows it to occur even though a 2008 law armed the agency with the authority to strengthen penalties for retailers caught trafficking. A USDA division called Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) is responsible for rooting out the type of fraud and corruption that continue plaguing the food stamp program. “As of November 2018, FNS had not implemented this authority,” according to congressional investigators. “By failing to take timely action to strengthen penalties, FNS has not taken full advantage of an important tool for deterring trafficking.”
Thankfully, the Trump administration is finally taking action to address some of the problems. Last summer the administration announced changes after revealing that more than 3 million people are improperly receiving benefits. Under the plan, a loophole that allows states to approve food stamp benefits without checking on recipients’ assets will finally be eliminated. This is known as “expanded categorical eligibility” or “broad based categorical eligibility.” The new rule could save American taxpayers and estimated $2.5 billion annually. Additionally, law enforcement agents are increasingly using data from electronic food stamp transactions to identify and eliminate fraud. The multi-million-dollar fraud framework will have seven components that include organizational management, recipient integrity education and data management.

Overall, we rate Judicial Watch Questionable based on extreme right-wing bias, promotion of conspiracy theories, and a very poor fact check record. (7/19/2016) Updated (D. Van Zandt 04/29/2020)

It's really getting more and more difficult to take anything you say seriously when you continue to post articles that are clearly fabricated. Try using your so called open mindedness when choosing what to post

#babygate trends as Trump's new White House fence draws more trolls: 'da widdle pwesident got his widdle wall'

Several people took to Twitter to point out how Trump's new fence reminded them of the baby gate which parents install for the safety of their children

While the whole country is protesting the death of George Floyd and advocating for the Black Lives Matter movement, President Donald Trump has taken to the construction of a fence around the White House. The setting up of the fence began on June 4 and continued on Friday, June 5. The two-mile-long fence is reportedly part of the President's security measures to save himself from protestors and has come under heavy mockery on the internet sending #babygate trending.

Several people took to Twitter to point out how Trump's new fence reminded them of the baby gate which parents install for the safety of their children. A user tweeted, "Well, if they're going to put up a #babygate at the #Trump #WhiteHouse can we put #ChildSafetyLocks on the nukes? #ParentalControls that block #FoxNews on the TVs? #ShowOfFear #Bunkerbaby #BlackLivesMatter."

Another user wrote, "#babygate for Baby Donny. Make sure you take away his helicopters or at least make him fly them himself." "Awww da widdle pwesident got his widdle wall!! Maybe he is practicing for prison? #babygate," joked a user.
The President was earlier taunted for escaping into a bunker at the White House during the peak of the George Floyd protests to ensure his safety. Later, when the President was mocked for his absence at a time when the nation needed him the most, he defended himself by stating that he was in the bunker for inspection, and did not go into hiding. He also created chaos when he decided to walk to the nearby St John's Church from the White House for a photo-op, which led to several peaceful protesters being teargassed and hit with rubber bullets by the police.
