'As one UCLA student claimed during the debate, automatic soap dispensers “don’t see her hands” due to the dark pigment of her skin.' I don't know about the rest of you but my experience is that mot of those automatic dispensers in public restrooms spend most of the day empty. I mean maintenance only checks them a couple of times a day. They use prepackaged dispenser bags and if the they are totally empty, they don't replace them.

'soap dispensers are racist because they force “black and brown bodies” to show their palms — “the only light areas of the skin” — in order to get soap out.' I mean where the hell do they want to dispense it. Everyone I know puts their hand under them palm up in order to catch the soap in their palm.

soon breathing will become racist .. so I hope all that are worried about race would just stop breathing.

Whisky Tango Foxtrot are these "educated" kids thinking?

Woke students at prestigious college reportedly complain that automatic soap dispensers are racist

If you still don't believe that the lunatics are running the asylum, get a load of an op-ed that a civil engineering student from the University of California, Los Angeles, just penned for the the College Fix.
In it, Sullivan Israel shares that he recently took part in an online debate about "systemic racism" sponsored by the Bruin Republicans — and that some UCLA students complained during the debate that automatic soap dispensers are racist.
    Yup.
You know, the contraptions in public restrooms all across the fruited plain that magically emit gobs of liquid soap soon after you place your hands underneath them?
Anyway, Israel said one student said the dispensers "don't see her hands" because of her skin's dark pigment.
    Umm, okay.
Oh, but it gets better. He added that another student said the dispensers force "black and brown bodies" to show their palms — which are "the only light areas of the skin" — before the soap will come out.
    More from Israel's piece:
First of all, let me just debunk the basis of this claim: for anyone who doesn't know, the sensors on soap dispensers don't see human hands; they don't have eyes. They work using a simple device called a PIR sensor that recognizes infrared light, which is emitted by all people, regardless of color (as long as they're not dead). Also, I don't know about you, but those darn things never work for me. I can't remember how many times I've banged on one to try to get soap out (yet it never occurred to me to blame anti-Semitism as the cause).

But I digress. The point here isn't how a soap dispenser works. It's the idea that students at UCLA actually thought that they were designed with white supremacy in mind.

This, and other claims like it, were not unique perspectives shared by one lone student, but rather a world-view that was reiterated and supported by the over 80 students who attended, or more accurately zoom-bombed, the debate.
In his op-ed, Israel dismantled the growing notion that "systemic racism and white supremacy is all around us, and in everyone, and everything, a person encounters" and even more that it's "a secret force that exists everywhere, permeates all things, and wields power over society."
And he called it what it is — a "conspiracy theory."
    More from Israel's piece:
The obvious objection is that systemic racism isn't a conspiracy because it doesn't fit the definition. But followers of systemic racism blame it on everything, like it's an omnipresent boogeyman. They use it to explain any outcome they dislike, facts and data aside. Its believers cite their "lived experience" as proof enough. I hear it on campus all the time.

The worst part about this ideology is that it obscures real racism and actual problems we continue to face as a nation, including the continued marginalization of many groups across this country, including so-called "black and brown" people.

When people rant and rave about soap dispensers, it delegitimizes claims of racism when racism actually occurs. Of course there are still racists in this country — I have met some myself. In fact, I have faced real anti-Semitism throughout my life.
He added that it's increasingly difficult to engage with those who cling to wild conspiracy theories related to what they view as systemic racism since they've "become so entrenched in their far-fetched beliefs that they consider all opposition to be inherently evil (many of the pro-systemic racism students claimed all opponents to their ideas were simply racist themselves)."
But one way you can combat the problem for now, Israel wrote, is to "confidently defy their claims publicly to prevent more unknowing people from falling into their grip."

If these dispensers use a reflective sensor they do have trouble detecting darker skin. Not necessarily racist but bad design.

Ex-Obama Admin Scientist Slams Biden's 'Climate Crisis' Narrative: Data 'Doesn't Support That Kind of Hysteria'

Former President Barack Obama’s undersecretary for the Department of Energy, Steven Koonin, said that science does not support the “hysteria” of the Biden administration’s stance on the global “climate crisis.”
“What I realized, is that, although you hear people talking about ‘we’re going to believe in the science, the science is settled, we’ve got an existential crisis,'” Koonin told Fox News on Thursday.
“When you actually read the science, it doesn’t support that kind of hysteria at all.”

The physicist and New York University professor was responding to President Joe Biden’s speech Thursday morning on the first day of the virtual Leaders Summit on Climate.
During his speech, Biden said that scientists have noted that the current decade will be crucial to address the climate crisis and he wants to listen to the science.

Koonin explained that the assessment reports from the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the United States’ National Climate Assessment actually don’t support drastic changes to stop climate change, as Biden asserted.
Although temperatures are rising globally and have risen by about 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit in the last century, Koonin said that humans have made advances like expanding food sources and accessing electricity.

“Eventually we will probably need to do something about this, but the scope and scale of what the Biden administration proposed for the U.S., I think is just not there in the data. It’s not there in the science,” he said.
“I prefer to see us take a much more measured and thoughtful approach to doing this.”

According to a fact sheet from the White House, Biden made a “nationally determined contribution” pledge Thursday to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 to 52 percent by 2030.
Biden plans to make this possible by advancing “environmental justice” and expanding job opportunities.
“Creating jobs and tackling climate change go hand in hand — empowering the U.S. to build more resilient infrastructure, expand access to clean air and drinking water, spur American technological innovations, and create good-paying, union jobs along the way,” the fact sheet noted.

Koonin argued that these lofty goals may not be attainable.
“The ambition to have a high percent of weather-dependent renewables on the electrical grid is something I would question,” he said.

“The wind doesn’t blow all the time, the sun doesn’t shine all the time. And you’ve got to have backup systems for when that happens.”
Koonin advised exploring geoengineering options or creating a better understanding of how to pull carbon dioxide out of the air.
“I think we need to understand them better,” he said.

Since ALL living plants use CO2 to live, is this going to affect the plant life on the planet? What will that do to our FOOD supply? Tofu comes from soy beans... So doing away with CO2 will reduce the Soy plants, therefore doing away with plant based FAKE MEAT products.

Greta Thunberg sparks criminal conspiracy probe in India with accidental tweet

Greta Thunberg accidentally shared a message showing she was getting told what to write on Twitter about the ongoing violent farmers’ revolt in India — sparking a police investigation and a political firestorm, according to reports.
The 18-year-old left-wing eco-activist shared — and then quickly deleted — a message that detailed a list of “suggested posts” about the ongoing protests, according to the posts that were saved by Breaking 911.
The list gave a series of tips on what to post, asking her to also repost and tag other celebrities tweeting about it, including pop star Rihanna.
As well as the Twitter storm, the “toolkit” she shared also suggested highlighting planned demonstrations at Indian embassies.
The campaign material and social media template was created by Canada’s Poetic Justice Foundation, which claims to be a grassroots group creating “events to provoke, challenge and disrupt systemic inequities and biases,” Times Now said. The group’s website confirms it is “most actively involved in the #FarmersProtest.”

After deleting the list, Thunberg then shared a supposedly newer “toolkit” and a message saying, “We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India.”
India’s foreign ministry issued a rare statement accusing “foreign individuals” and celebrities of “sensationalism” and “trying to enforce their agenda.”
Delhi police on Thursday confirmed that it had launched “a criminal case against the creators of the ‘Toolkit document'” that Thunberg shared.
“The call was to wage economic, social, cultural and regional war against India,” police said of the plot supposedly taken up by the celebs.
The force filed a First Information Report (FIR) — a preliminary formal investigation — with a specialist cyber-crimes squad leading the investigation, according to NDTV.

Numerous Indian newspapers and TV stations initially reported that a FIR had also been filed against Thunberg herself. However, Delhi Special Commissioner of Police Praveer Ranjan later clarified that nobody had been identified and that the probe was looking into those behind the toolkit, Indian news agency ANI said.
The investigation is focusing on the spreading of disaffection against the government, promoting hatred and criminal conspiracy, the agency said.
One Indian minister, VK Singh, said that Thunberg’s deleted tweet “revealed the real designs of a conspiracy at an international level against India.”
“Instructions were laid out clearly as to the ‘how’, ‘when’ and ‘what,'” Singh wrote.
“Conspiracies at this scale often get exposed and ultimately it took the hasty tweet of Greta, who with other international celebrities suddenly turned sensitive towards farmer issues.”

A series of high-profile Indian celebrities also joined the attack on celebrities overseas getting involved in the farmers’ revolt that has gripped India for more than two months.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut even called the protesting farmers “terrorists” and Rihanna a “fool” for her widely shared tweet that asked her 100 million Twitter followers, “Why aren’t we talking about this?!”
Thunberg remained defiant Thursday. “I still #StandWithFarmers and support their peaceful protest,” she tweeted Thursday morning.
“No amount of hate, threats or violations of human rights will ever change that.”
Tens of thousands of farmers have been hunkering down at the Indian capital’s fringes to protest new agricultural laws they say will leave them poorer and at the mercy of corporations.
In their most violent clash on Jan. 26 — India’s Republic Day — hundreds of police officers were injured and a protester died. Scores of farmers were also injured but officials have not given their numbers.
