My wife had been sick with what seemed like covid type symptoms. The doctors were only doing video and phone visits. Finally they told us to go get her tested,she was negative. So now to find out what was wrong with her they told us to go to the emergency room. The hospital is in a high population area just outside of chicago. I thought this is gonna be a nightmare with all the hospitals being filled up with covid patients. There was only one other person in the ER. All told we had to keep going to the er 5 times. Each time the first thing they tested her for was covid,negative everytime. Everytime the hospital was like a ghost town. I talked to people who went to other local hospitals and they said it was also totally unlike what they were saying on the news. I believe they are fudging the numbers big time.

From what I have observed, that is the case everywhere. Locally hospitals months ago were laying off nurses especially ER nurses because they were not need. People are afraid that they are going to be exposed to SARS-CoV-2 if they go to a hospital emergency room. With low cost or free testing where you do not even have to get out of your vehicle available everywhere in the US, that is where people go to get tested. The majority of those that do teat positive are asymptomatic or have minor symptoms and are told to quarantine at home. Those that do require hospitalization do not go through the ER. They go directly to ICU.

A couple of local news stations (ABC, CBS) said that the hospitals were "climbing towards capacity in line with other parts of the nation", but when an independent investigation was done, it was found that most hospitals around the country normally operate at around a 61% capacity (national average [43% Rural/ 61% Urban]). This covers ER occupancy, ICU, Elective operations, Birthing, Staff, etc, etc. When they looked at the percentage of hospitalizations due to covid in my state they found that only 5% of the capacity was attributed to the coronavirus. Also it showed that we still had 35% available capacity averaged across the state during the "height of the pandemic", and are now sitting at 44% availability.
Out of 374 available ventilators we used 44 for "Covid patients" (12%).
We have only had 427 people "require hospitalization" in my state. In the beginning they said we would have close to 100,000 hospitalizations. Again....Wow! Were they WRONG!
The news stations in question tried to give people the impression that hospitals here were "on the brink", when in reality, they're operating at the normal "pre-pandemic" state & national average.

Remember when they put up all of those Covid tent hospitals at a hefty cost, and then only treated a handful of people? GIANT waste of money and resources.
Remember when they brought the hospital ships to the coasts, and then decided after a month to pull up anchor and get out of town, after only treating a total of 70 people (USS Mercy) and 182 people for the USS Comfort?! HUGE waste of money, resources and time.

IMHO if the states had not been trying to "flatten the curve" they have actually lengthened the curve. Oh and BTW it is your favorite liberal news channels that have been duping you.
