    Science VS Fiction

Kids can carry coronavirus in respiratory tract for weeks, study suggests

(CNN)Children can carry coronavirus in their noses and throats for weeks even if they don't show any symptoms, which might explain how the virus can spread silently, researchers in South Korea reported Friday.

"In this case series study, inapparent infections in children may have been associated with silent COVID-19 transmission in the community," the researchers wrote in a new study.

Interestingly, this study aligns with adult data in which up to 40% of adults may remain asymptomatic in the face of infection," Dr. Roberta DeBiasi and Dr. Meghan Delaney, both of Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC, wrote in an accompanying editorial. Neither was involved in the research.

"In this study, the authors estimate that 85 infected children (93%) would have been missed using a testing strategy focused on testing of symptomatic patients alone," they wrote.

The study comes out at a time when the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been criticized for changing its guidelines on asymptomatic testing, which the American Academy of Pediatrics called "a dangerous step backward" in a statement on Friday.

Lockdown Protest Pops Up in London as UK Re-Tightens COVID Restrictions

Refusing to go gently into the not-so-good night of another wave of COVID-inspired lockdowns, British protesters took to the streets in London on Saturday.
Resistance from the police, who whacked protesters with batons, was matched with scorn from London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who decried the “reckless and violent behavior of some protesters” and called them “selfish,” the BBC reported.
Police said nine officers were hurt and 16 people arrested in the second weekend of anti-lockdown protests, according to Reuters.

“I am very frustrated to see that nine officers were injured during clashes with a small minority of protesters,” Metropolitan Police Commander Ade Adelekan said.
“This is especially saddening in light of the injuries sustained by officers last weekend. We will be supporting those officers who were injured and I wish them a very speedy recovery.”
Britain’s traditional protest spot of Trafalgar Square was jammed with thousands of marchers, who waved banners that read “We Do Not Consent” and “COVID 1984.”
Authorities ordered demonstrators to disperse. Even though protests in Britain can exceed six people, the rules require demonstrators to socially distance, which police said did not take place Saturday.

Khan deplored some of the protesters.
“The reckless and violent behavior of some protesters has left hard-working police officers injured and put the safety of our city, which is at a critical moment in the fight against this virus, at risk. This is totally unacceptable,” he said.

“We cannot let the sacrifices Londoners have made be undermined by the selfish behavior of a small number,” Khan added.
“Violence of this kind towards officers will not be tolerated and perpetrators will feel the full force of the law.”
Reacting to a recent spike in coronavirus cases, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson unveiled new restrictions on Tuesday that he said might be in place for six months.

Johnson ordered pubs, restaurants and entertainment venues to shut down at 10 p.m, according to The Associated Press. He also called for an increase in working from home.
The new rules require even more people to wear face masks, including taxi passengers and workers in bars and stores.

The restrictions, announced after Britain saw its highest number of daily new positive cases since May, largely ban gatherings of more than six people.
“If we follow these simple rules together, we will get through this winter together,” Johnson said Tuesday.
“But now is the time for us all to summon the discipline, and the resolve, and the spirit of togetherness that will carry us through.”
On Friday, Britain recorded almost 7,000 new coronavirus cases, according to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center.

Furthering my point about cities/ states that still have lockdowns and restrictions while others do not (or have not),
How unfair is it that some states/ cities are going to absolutely go down the drain from these restrictions? I hate to see it. People worked hard to get where they were at, and with the Draconian measures put forth, have nearly lost it all.
Talked with a relative who lives down in Florida, and he was absolutely ecstatic that they are in full reopening mode!

Up to half of bars and restaurants in New York City may be forced to close permanently
within six months after having been devastated by the coronavirus lockdowns.

An audit released Thursday by state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli revealed that a third to half of the establishments that comprise one of the city’s key industries could shutter and never return, costing the city more than 150,000 jobs, according to the New York Post.

    What a shame.

we had one of the best barbers and two eateries close down due to Gov Pooper (D-NC) stupid shutdowns... HIS favorite restaurant in Raleigh remained open and is PACKED every time I go past it.. no masks (per his mandate) no distancing ...

there are many businesses that have shuttered for good.... just not his favs.

he marched with protestors NONE were wearing masks... but we tried to hold a rally at the "Mansion" and were turned away.. 95% were wearing masks and SD practices were being observed.. then the next night during the 'peaceful protests' 15 businesses were a smash n grab situation.. they had photos of the culprits .. and refused to prosecute the ones caught.

IT'S ALL POLITICS .. nothing more nothing less.

FLORIDA not fully reopen but what you know.
Many county's still have Mask mandates.
People can't be fined but businesses still can be fined.
Lots of restaurants are still maintaining the 50% capacity do to slow business and safety. Major theme parks are still operating at reduced capacity.

There's more but don't want to overload you with Facts.

Enjoy. its all about the tax revenue

TOPLINE Florida reported its biggest jump in coronavirus cases in over a week on Tuesday and testing positivity rates are now on the rise statewide, signaling a possible ramping up of coronavirus spread as health experts are concerned that the reopening of bars and restaurants at 100% capacity could fuel a new outbreak.

Florida reported a spike in new coronavirus cases Tuesday, just days after Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order allowing restaurants and bars to operate at full capacity.

New cases surged to 3,266 from the 738 reported Monday, according to the state's health department. That's the highest one-day number since September 19.

I'm sure those cases that can be pinned on BARS, can be proven that: Social Distancing was not adhered to. I bet that they weren't wearing masks.

Gov't can pass ALL the stupid rules they want to.. but HOW many are willing to follow the guidelines. Talking to college kids I meet, they tell me they REFUSE to SD and they say " How the hell can I drink with a F'in mask on? Are you for real? "

so you can blame it all on Trump, but any logical thinking person knows Gov't write laws... people break them if they feel they are stupid laws.

Here in the peoples communist state of California our grand and glorious dictator Nuke 'em decides which counties get to start opening back up and when. He has set a number of guidelines that we the pissed on must meet in order to advance to the different levels of shutdown. Those include number of new cases each week and total number of active cases, both as a % of county population, hospital and ICU bed utilization %. Kern County has met those standards for over a month but News Cum has decided that he doesn't like our numbers and has artificially inflated them. New Scum claims that Kern County's number of new tests each are below the state average

BTW our Imperious state leader is a Democrat. Kern County is one of the few conservative Republican counties. My Congressman is House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. We have the most issued CCW permits of any county in California. Combined with Fresno county we have more than the rest of the state combined.
