Re: Latest on the Corona Virus

Canada may be able to loosen lockdowns and have some sectors return to work by the summer if the nation abides by the tight restrictions currently in place, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said.

Trudeau says partial return to work by summer possible in Canada - BNN Bloomberg

The country is currently in the “first and worst phase” of the coronavirus, and modeling shows that in a best-case scenario it could emerge relatively quickly if people observe social distancing so as to minimize the burden on the health system, Trudeau said at a press conference Friday.

“That is the ideal scenario but it only happens if we continue to stay strong for the coming weeks,” he said.

By that point, Canada will have better testing protocols and new technologies to trace outbreaks allowing it to respond to any resurgencies with more capably, he said.
Canada has tested more people than in the U.S. despite having about one-tenth the population and is continue to ramp up its testing capacity, he said. In a separate briefing Friday, Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer Theresa Tam said that the nation has tested over 380,000 people and five per cent have tested positive.

“The lead that we’ve taken on testing is part of why we are seeing a flatter curve than other places,” Trudeau said in Ottawa.

Still, Trudeau tempered expectations: “We will not get back to the normal that we had before at least until we have developed a vaccine for the virus -- that is the reality.” A vaccine could take anywhere from 6 months to a year and a half, he said.

Canada has over 21,000 COVID-19 cases and more than 500 deaths, Tam said.

Quoting the liberal media again huh? 6.4 million Americans dead?? Only 6,381,237 to go until you guys get what you want. Tired of the liberal scare-tactics. Using models that were completely over-exaggerated and Wrong, fear-mongering with their “guesses as to what Could happen”, defending Communist China, and wrecking our nation.

Glad you think 650,000 deaths every year from the flu is acceptable, just so you can get a paycheck. Don’t you care about those lives like these covid lives?? Obviously not!

My state has done plenty to curb the spread, proven by our number of cases.
Our Governor closed schools down before ANY Other state.
Our citizens have voluntarily quarantined if showing symptoms.
Parks, Bars, clubs, restaurants, etc. all closed.
Our governor laid out what we would have to do to avoid a “lockdown”, and we heeded those warnings, unlike MOST other states.

We also have the best infectious disease containment unit in the nation (remember when they brought the Ebola patients here??).

So, we know you are against all the safety measures that have been imposed. And yet you seem proud of the steps your state has taken.
It just seems you don't have your own opinion on how it should be handled.

Re: Latest on the Corona Virus

South Orange NJ, April 9, 2020 — While sports commissioners, governments and medical experts debate when to reopen sports leagues, a huge majority of Americans including a substantial majority of sports fans are prepared to stay home until the development of a vaccine for Coronavirus.

Nearly 3 of 4 Americans Say They Won’t Attend Games Without Coronavirus Vaccine Developed | Sports Polling

Asked what they would do if the leagues resumed play before the development of a vaccine, 72 percent of Americans said they would not attend games, with 12 percent saying they would if social distancing could be maintained. Only 13 percent said they would feel safe attending as in the past.

Among sports fans the number drops to a still significant 61 percent.

Medical experts have repeatedly put the timeline for approval of a vaccine into 2021, although they have not ruled out an existing drug proving effective for treatment this year. Seventy-four percent of Americans thought it was possible, likely or very likely that sports would be cancelled for the rest of this year.

    About the poll:
The Seton Hall Sports Poll is conducted by the Sharkey Institute within the Stillman School of Business. This poll was conducted by telephone April 6-8 with 762 respondents, 348 from a landline frame and 414 from a cell frame by Braun Research Incorporated with remote live telephone interviewers being monitored by an all at-home staff. .

Never said I was against the safety measures. I’ve been saying that we’ve never done this crap before with any other virus or pandemic “to save lives”.
Once again, up to 650,000 dead every year from the flu, why aren’t we shutting down to “flatten the curve” and “save lives”?? Simple question.

My best guess is because this is a brand new virus and if left unchecked it would be devastating to healthcare and the economy.
Also, the flu has a yearly cycle and I think they are hoping these safety measures will prevent that from happening with SARS CoV-2
