COVID-19 Vaccine-Reluctant in U.S. Likely to Stay That Way

SO it appears all the 'spiffs' for getting the vax is due to admin driven.

As of the May 18-23 survey, 60% of U.S. adults report they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, 4% have been partially vaccinated, 12% plan to be vaccinated and 24% do not plan to be vaccinated.
Among those not planning to be vaccinated, 78% say they are unlikely to reconsider their plans, including 51% who say they are "not likely at all" to change their mind and get vaccinated. That leaves one in five vaccine-reluctant adults open to reconsidering, with 2% saying they are very likely and 19% saying they are somewhat likely to change their mind and get vaccinated -- equivalent to 5% of all U.S. adults.
Last week, the Biden administration announced plans to increase efforts to achieve its goal of having 70% of adults at least partially vaccinated by the Fourth of July holiday. With 64% already vaccinated, that goal seems within reach if half of the 12% planning to get vaccinated follow through, even if none of those not planning to get vaccinated change their mind. The administration's efforts include outreach to citizens, offers of free childcare, and incentives such as free air travel and free sports tickets.

... As President Joe Biden’s goal of having 70% of American adults receive at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine by July 4 slips further out of his grasp, a consistent political trend shows the biggest lag occuring in red states with greater vaccine hesitancy.

All 13 states that have reached that 70% threshold in Centers for Disease Control data as of Tuesday voted for Biden in the 2020 election.

The states with the highest rates – Vermont at 82.9%, Hawaii at 81.2% and Massachusetts at 79.8% – also gave him some of his most lopsided margins in November.

The cohort of states just shy of the 70% target are also Biden states: New York, Illinois, Virginia and Minnesota among them.

By contrast, the states lagging the most in vaccinations – Mississippi at 44.2%, Alabama at 46% and Louisiana at 47.7% – all voted for former President Donald Trump by wide margins.

The data affirms polling from early in the vaccine process that showed Republicans and Trump supporters were among the most likely groups to resist taking the vaccine.

You see all of the states you listed that have met their goal? Those are states with a very high white population. The states you listed that were way behind? Those are states with a high black population. I know because I live in Mississippi.

    Guess your racist theory Fails

Mississippi's Black communities turned around Covid rates. Next up: Vaccines
Mississippi has already narrowed an outsize gap in Covid-19 incidence and mortality rates for its Black residents.
