With relief on the brink, AOC fumes over checks being doled ‘ONLY’ to those with social sec numbers
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was called out for her ignorance after having a tantrum over COVID-19 relief checks headed to Americans.
The New York Democrat took to Twitter to rail against Senate Republicans for passing the $2.2 trillion stimulus package late Wednesday in response to the coronavirus pandemic and its devastating effect on the U.S. economy.
After more than five days of negotiations, as Democrats continued to delay and disagree over the bill’s details, the bipartisan legislation passed with promises of billions in small business aid, a deferment of student loan payments and $1,200 checks for Americans making up to $75,000.
But Ocasio-Cortez had a serious problem with the idea that the money was effectively being “cut off the backs of *taxpaying immigrants,* who get nothing,” and complaining that the one-time checks “are ONLY going to some w/social sec numbers, NOT immigrants w/ tax IDs.”
To clarify, $1200 checks are ONLY going to some w/social sec numbers, NOT immigrants w/ tax IDs (ITINs).
Thanks to GOP, these checks will be cut off the backs of *taxpaying immigrants,* who get nothing. Many are essential workers who pay more taxes than Amazon.
Wall St gets $4T

March 26, 2020 While the self-proclaimed Democratic socialist found support from those with like-minded thinking, plenty of Twitter users slammed her take on the issue.
if you cut down on tweeting and actually advocate and legislate, maybe you wouldnt have as many complaints
instead, you read bills and get right on twitter to complain
your constituents deserve a lawmaker, not a social media influencer

March 26, 2020 Ocasio-Cortez was not done, however, going on to call out President Donald Trump and Senate Republicans in a follow-up tweet.
What Trump + Senate GOP have done is hold hospitals, working people, and the vulnerable hostage so they could get in $500 billion (that will be leveraged into $4T) in corporate welfare.
Without the Wall St giveaway, GOP refuses to fund hospitals & unemployment. It’s inhumane.

March 26, 2020 What she failed to notice in her rant was quickly pointed out by Twitter users.
The unanimous vote of 96-0 in the Senate included every single Democrat, a fact that Ocasio-Cortez apparently missed.
“This is a proud moment for the United States Senate and for the country, and we’re going to win this battle in the very near future,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said after the vote.
“We all know that not everyone is going to want every provision. We all know that so many things so many of us want are left out. But we all know we must do these things,” Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer said.
Twitter users were happy to torch Ocasio-Cortez for missing the obvious.
Uh it was 96-0 and your champion Bernie voted for it.
