Manufacturing CEO: Before Biden, it felt like we were fighting the pandemic alone

A former Republican operative who now leads one of the nation's most powerful business groups is praising President Joe Biden's efforts to defeat the coronavirus pandemic.

"It is fantastic to have a partner in the White House," Jay Timmons, president and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers, told CNN Business. "We felt like we were fighting this fight, frankly, all alone for the last year."

NAM, which represents more than 130,000 manufacturers, announced Friday it is planning to partner with the Biden administration to help fight the pandemic.

Timmons, who said his father died from Covid, criticized the Trump administration's track record on the health crisis.

"It seemed like so often over the course of the last year, the pandemic was weaponized and it became a political tool," he said, adding that he was dismayed dismay over disinformation that confused the public.

"500,000 Americans have already died because we as a society didn't take the pandemic seriously enough. My father was one of those. The horrible, lonesome, gruesome death that he went through, I want no other family to have to go through that."

Timmons was the most outspoken business leader in the hours after the Capitol riot on January 6.

That day he called for then-Vice President Mike Pence to consider working with the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump and "to preserve democracy."

"What we saw on January 6th was absolutely one of the most horrifying things that any of us who love America could have ever witnessed," Timmons said.

Timmons is a longtime Republican operative. He was chief of staff to George Allen when Allen served as governor of Virginia as well as a congressman and US senator between 1991 and 2002. During the 2004 election cycle, Timmons served as executive director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Asked if he was disappointed the 25th Amendment was not invoked, Timmons said he was "very heartened" to see Pence and the Senate leadership "stand up for the rule of law" and ensure a peaceful transfer of power.

As a matter of interest Pfizer was fined the most amount in American history.

The department said the $2.3bn settlement included a $1.2bn criminal fine, the largest criminal fine in US history. The agreement also included a criminal forfeiture of $105m.

Why, probably because ignorance is bliss. The masses get their news from the slanted msm where knowledgeable scientists who have an opinion that differs from the official are ignored.

Liberals politicians are playing liberal voters for a fool.

TEACHERS UNION PRESIDENT WHO LED SCHOOL CLOSURES DROPS DAUGHTER OFF AT IN-PERSON PRESCHOOL

Be honest, when you read that headline, were you even a bit surprised?

Matt Meyer, president of the Berkeley Federation of Teachers, has been aggressively fighting to keep schools closed, claiming that reopening is unsafe until all educators are vaccinated. Meyer’s title, mission, and reason — which the CDC has called nonsense — tells you much of what you need to know about him, but it gets better. While advocating to keep your kid home on Zoom, Meyer was just spotted dropping his two-year-old daughter off at an in-person preschool.
    Hmm, that adds up well.

Meyer told Fox News that the video is “very inappropriate” and an “intrusion of his child’s privacy.” Got that? He’s the victim here.

“There are major differences in running a small preschool and a 10,000 student public school district in terms of size, facilities, public health guidance and services that legally have to be provided,” Meyer added. “We all want a safe return to school. The Berkeley Federation of Teachers is excited that Berkeley Unified will be reopening soon with a plan, supported by our members and the district, to get our students back in classrooms starting later this month.”

Other parents aren’t buying his excuses.

“Meet Matt Meyer. White man with dreads and president of the local teachers’ union,” the group Guerilla Momz tweeted this weekend. “He’s been saying it is unsafe for *your kid* to be back at school, all the while dropping his kid off at private school.”

(The last part is true, but why does the color of his skin matter?)

Dr. Shelene Stine, who treats COVID-19 patients at Highland Hospital, is also reasonably outraged with the video. Stine has 3-year-old twins who attend the same preschool as Meyer’s daughter and a 5-year-old attending kindergarten at a Berkeley Unified School District school.

“I am a physician. It is definitively the scientific agreement that it is possible to deliver safe in-person education,” Stine said. “It’s infuriating to know Matt Meyer says kids can’t wear masks when kids in his preschool wear them all day long.”

    Another good point.

These teachers union leaders are not only hypocrites but rather foolish, hurting their cases with every word they speak. Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers, is even more of a joke than Meyer. Despite educational declines, lost social development, and rising suicide rates, Weingarten claims the kids will be just fine and “recover.”
    Hmm, nice to know.

Stop listening to this guy Matt Meyer. He clearly doesn’t mean what he says. Send all the kids back to school.

Re: Latest on the Corona Virus

British Columbia, Canada is extending the time between first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccine to four months, freeing up 70,000 doses for younger age groups earlier.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said on Monday that the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines has been shown to provide "miraculous" protection of 90 per cent.

The change, as well as Health Canada's approval of a third vaccine, means every eligible person in B.C. will receive the first dose of their vaccine by mid- to late July.

The newly authorized AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine will also accelerate B.C.'s overall vaccine timeline, possibly bumping front-line workers up the queue.

Henry said first responders and essential workers may be eligible to get vaccinated starting in April as the province decides on a strategy for the AstraZeneca vaccine.

... copier technicians are considered essential workers.

Allow me to translate: Canada doesn't have enough vaccine to go around, so you'll wait an additional 4-months to get the 2nd dose and that will free up an additional 70,000 doses for younger folks.
