Even further back, Django Reinhardt, 2 fingered wizard back when the strings were heavy gauge only.

If your are not familiar, worth a look, and some good listening to history.
I have recordings by both Django Reinhardt and Les Paul. Both are great and influential of course.

If I had to name one guy who started it all it would probably be Lonnie Johnson.

And what about T-bone Walker, Charlie Christian, the list goes on.

Was Boston posted on this thread? I've been listening to this album for the past couple of days...what an album! I feel every song on it was a freaking hit. "When I'm tired and thinking cold I hide in my music, forget the day And dream of a girl I used to know...I closed my eyes and she slipped away She slipped away."

How pathetic is my life. I remember when Foreigner and Little River Band did a double bill at college in 1976 or 1977. They each were basically unheard of with Foreigner having their first hit on the radio. The ticket price? $5.00 for campus students. I passed on it, how stupid was that? Later the campus brought in Ozark Mountain Daredevils. Saw that one it was so/so. Around 1979 the campus brought in Fleetwood Mac, I think tickets were $25 wanted to go badly, didn't have $25 though. In 1976 the campus brought in a "solo" artist whom I had never heard of called Dan Fogelberg. Around 1980 I was dating a gal who introduced me to his music. If I could only go back in a time machine.
    I've proved mathematics wrong. 1 + 1 doesn't always equal 2.........
