    Re: Phones and battery life

Imagine tossing your phone for a new one every year.
I am to hard on phones to have anything to fancy...
Battery replacement is not worth it.

That is 3.5 billion dumped phones a year.
Lets say 75 grams of battery per phone.
That is 262500 metric tons of discarded lithium ion battery per year!
    That would still be conservative..

Includes 100 tones of gold. Hopefully that will assist in responsible handling of the rest of the waste.

That is it! I am moving into the bush.
    Whatever

Some manufacturers and service providers are offering as much as 50% discounts to upgrade to 5G compatible phones. If you trade in your old phone.

I don't know about elsewhere but in parts of Bakersfield they are replacing 4G capabilities with 5G. The result is if you phone does not support 5G you are stuck with 2G. And then if you do not have unlimited data and go over your data allowance they throttle you to half that.

And a lot longer Samsung have clamed 95% charging capacity after two years. Someone i know went from an s6 to s10 that thats a gap of four years on the original battery. I find it hard to believe LG batteries are that bad.

Do you use ram boosters, task killers and similar junk apps?
When you think you have made a procedure idiot proof your company employs a better idiot.

No junk apps. I know those things drains really really fast, and phone gets hot.

Had a pixel xl that does same thing too.

Maybe it's because I don't keep it charged the healthy way?

For the past few years I have been buying Xiaomi.
This smartphone lasts 2 years, then I switch for battery life and performance. I pay around € 130-150 each time and that's great. I avoid spending € 400 for a smartphone that will still last 2 years.

Apple got caught a couple of years ago including a daemon in their latest, at the time, iOS that only ran on older models and caused the battery life to be reduced.

Pretty lowbar even for the nut company whose phone's prices are sky high.
A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost, he who sows courtesy, reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
