From the liberal New York Times. What say the bootlickers?

Cuomo Aides Rewrote Nursing Home Report to Hide Higher Death Toll
The intervention was the earliest action yet known in an effort by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo that concealed how many nursing home residents died in the pandemic.

Top aides to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo were alarmed: A report written by state health officials had just landed, and it included a count of how many nursing home residents in New York had died in the pandemic.
The number — more than 9,000 by that point in June — was not public, and the governor’s most senior aides wanted to keep it that way. They rewrote the report to take it out, according to interviews and documents reviewed by The New York Times.
The extraordinary intervention, which came just as Mr. Cuomo was starting to write a book on his pandemic achievements, was the earliest act yet known in what critics have called a monthslong effort by the governor and his aides to obscure the full scope of nursing home deaths.
After the state attorney general revealed earlier this year that thousands of deaths of nursing home residents had been undercounted, Mr. Cuomo finally released the complete data, saying he had withheld it out of concern that the Trump administration might pursue a politically motivated inquiry into the state’s handling of the outbreak in nursing homes.

But Mr. Cuomo and his aides actually began concealing the numbers months earlier, as his aides were battling their own top health officials, and well before requests for data arrived from federal authorities, according to documents and interviews with six people with direct knowledge of the discussions, who requested anonymity to describe the closed-door debates.

The central role played by the governor’s top aides reflected the lengths to which Mr. Cuomo has gone in the middle of a deadly pandemic to control data, brush aside public health expertise and bolster his position as a national leader in the fight against the coronavirus.

As the nursing home report was being written, the New York State Health Department’s data — contained in a chart reviewed by The Times that was included in a draft — put the death toll roughly 50 percent higher than the figure then being cited publicly by the Cuomo administration.

The Health Department worked on the report with McKinsey, a consulting firm hired by Mr. Cuomo to help with the pandemic response. The chart they created compared nursing home deaths in New York with other states. New York’s total of 9,250 deaths far exceeded that of the next-highest state, New Jersey, which had 6,150 at the time.

Biden forced to send team to the border as child migrant influx escalates

Biden has encountered scrutiny over how his administration is treating children in its custody

President Biden has ordered senior members of his team to visit the southern border and report back to him on how to handle the recent influx of migrant children, a White House spokesman said Thursday.

News of the trip came at a critical time for the administration. As another wave of migrants approached the border, Biden encountered scrutiny over how his administration was treating children in its custody.

"President Biden has asked senior members of his team to travel to the border region in order to provide a full briefing to him on the government response to the influx of unaccompanied minors and an assessment of additional steps that can be taken to ensure the safety and care of these children," the spokesman said.

BIDEN ADMINISTRATION FACING DRAMATIC SURGE IN UNACCOMPANIED CHILDREN AT THE BORDER

"Out of safety, security, and privacy concerns the date and time of this visit will remain confidential but the White House will provide a readout of the visit once it concludes."

According to Axios, leaked Health and Human Services documents showed Customs and Border Protection referring an average of 321 children per day to the former -- a dramatic increase from the weekly average of 203 observed at the end of January.

At the end of last month, the White House faced questions over the reopening of a child migrant facility in Texas -- an apparent betrayal of then-candidate Biden's reported pledge from 2019 not to detain children.

The issue served as a central criticism of former President Trump as Biden continually decried how the former administration put "kids in cages." When confronted about the Texas facility, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki argued that "this is not kids being kept in cages."

Migrant family detention centers in Texas will be converted into rapid-processing hubs, according to The Washington Post. The Post reported Thursday that Homeland Security Department documents showed the administration intended to screen families with the goal of releasing them in the U.S. within 72 hours.

A White House official told Fox News last month that Biden's approach is to "deal with immigration comprehensively, fairly and humanely. The policy of this administration is not to expel unaccompanied children who arrive at our borders. The Border Patrol will continue to transfer unaccompanied children to the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement so they may be properly cared for in appropriate shelters, consistent with their best interest."

You certainly didn't care when donny boy was taking children from their parents and throwing them in cages without even keeping records, leaving hundreds of children without parents. Please don't pretend that you care now.

Bootlicker tactic number 1: When confronted with evidence, quickly deflect away from the conversation and talk about the bad orange man.

PS - I care more about our country than letting a bunch of illegals in the country whether they be eledery, middle aged or kids.

Apparently you haven't heard the facts isolated as you are up there in the frozen north. Those news pictures of kids in cages were actually taken during the Obama administration. Just as the Biden administration is now putting them in cages again. I guess Joe learned well from BO.

Rising GOP star and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is under fire over damning allegations first reported by the Miami Herald that he gave special treatment to 17 of his donors, allowing them to get the vaccine in January before many healthcare workers even received it. Democrat officials are now calling for an FBI investigation into what they say appears to be a “pay to play” scheme. DeSantis denies the allegations. Politico James Carville joins MSNBC’s Ari Melber, asserting he’s not surprised by the allegations, but that he is surprised there have not been more cases of bribery like this because it’s “totally consistent with modern Republican philosophy.”

The Water Crisis in Mississippi America Can’t Afford to Ignore
Right now, Calandra Davis’ water pressure is too low to take a shower. When she turns on her sinks, the water comes out at a slow trickle. For weeks, she’s had to bathe herself and her 6-year-old son with water from store-bought bottles. Like all residents of Jackson, Mississippi, she’s also been on a boil-water notice for a week due to high turbidity. But in many ways, she feels lucky.

“I feel like I’m privileged in that I have water at all right now and in that I didn’t go super long without water,” she said. Unlike more than 50,000 people in her city, she also didn’t lose power.

Davis, a policy analyst at Hope Policy Institute and organizer with the social justice organization Black Youth Project 100, has been spending hours each day on mutual aid efforts, delivering food and water, and helping get those without utilities into hotel rooms. While working a local emergency relief hotline, she’s heard from people who are struggling because they have medical conditions that require electronic devices or water access, and from dozens whose groceries all spoiled when their power went out. She says in Jackson, the lowest-income Black communities in the south and west are facing the worst effects.

    “It’s environmental racism,” she said.

Infrastructural issues in Jackson aren’t new, and they’re also not unique to the city. They’re endemic in the state, and they disproportionately affect poor, Black populations. Though the spotlight might still be on Texas, it’s clear that the infrastructure we rely on for modern life is in dire need of updates across the South. If we don’t make them, low-income people of color will continue to suffer the worst burdens.

There you go showing your lack of knowledge once more.
I believe it is disgusting throwing people in cages no matter who is doing it. Even Biden
Are you going to stop hiding and say that trump was wrong to separate children from parents without keeping records so they could be reunited? I'm going to say you will not, but you surprised me once before.

    Listen up, bootlicker

Your solution is to release illegal children & adults into our our states and cities so they don't have to be locked up.

My solution is to lock them all up and deport them back to where they came from in order to discourage more illegal immigration.

Re: The Shining City Upon a Hill

Remember when black unemployment was the lowest in history under Trump?

Black Unemployment Rate Rises Despite Declines for All Other Groups

(Bloomberg) -- The Black unemployment rate climbed in February even as most other Americans saw a decline in joblessness, underscoring that the labor-market recovery remains uneven one year after the pandemic began.

The unemployment rate for Black Americans rose to 9.9%, the highest among all race groups tracked, the Labor Department said Friday. The overall U.S. jobless rate fell to 6.2% and White, Hispanic and Asian-American workers saw declines, the data show.

Pandemic job losses have disproportionately impacted minorities, which is something policy makers are watching closely as the economy recovers. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell on Thursday said that it will take more than a low jobless rate to get to so-called maximum unemployment and that the central bank will be looking at a variety of indicators when assessing the labor market’s health.

In February, the Asian-American unemployment rate fell to 5.1% and joblessness also improved for women, who made up the bulk of payroll gains. Hispanic unemployment fell to 8.5%.
