... Keystone XL's path crossed both Indian lands and underground water aquifers. It was determined that the environmental risk was too high. Canadian oil sands production is very energy intensive and produces a dirty form of petroleum.

Keystone has given up on the project and moved its resources elsewhere making a reboot of the project years away.

Canada has lots of oil. Canada has no car company. You're in trouble.

Five Original Equipment Manufacturers assemble light vehicles at Canada's 7 auto assembly plants. All of Canada's assembly plants are located in Ontario, while automotive suppliers and R&D are located throughout the country.

And now any of the crude that makes it down to Texas refineries will do so by rail tanker cars. Those tanker trains will pass through major US cities. One derailment will create a much larger environmental tragedy than the pipe ever could.

Weekly jobless claims post stunning decline to 199,000, the lowest level since 1969

    • Initial jobless claims totaled 199,000 last week, the lowest total since November 1969.
    • Second-quarter GDP growth was revised slightly higher to 2.1%, a bit below estimates.
    • Orders for long-lasting goods fell 0.5% for the month, below the expectation for a small gain.

The ranks of those submitting jobless claims tumbled to their lowest level in more than 52 years last week, the Labor Department reported Wednesday.

New filings totaled 199,000, a number not seen since Nov. 15, 1969, when claims totaled 197,000. The report easily beat Dow Jones estimates of 260,000 and was well below the previous week’s 270,000.

Most of those people have just stopped looking for work because the goobermint pays them more to sit on their asses.
Some are working under the table.
Some are doing their own thing and haven't declared with the gooberment their change in status.
Too many variables to pin it on one facet of the equation.

You're missing one very important word, NEW. All that indicates is the rate of people losing their jobs has slowed, for now. It also means that seasonal jobs are coming available. That will end in about two months.
