The fuser on these can be reset right from the control panel and in certain situations we do after inspection of the fuser. We have an account with a mixture of 48 of the C4150/XC4140. Some of these run 10K-28K per month. If the fuser doesn't throw an error at some point we have seen these 150K fusers go 300K. Others will error out at 10K, these are the ones we rob the wiring harnesses from.

Lexmark now includes a free fuser PM kit with this series machine so there was likely some big dealers putting some pressure on.

Could you please detail the procedure on how to reset the Lexmark fuser from the control panel?

Unfortunately, far too many of my Lexmark fusers are dying at 10-60k.

Does that Lexmark C4140/C4150 fuser PM kit have a part #?

Is this the PM kit you are referring to?

If so, it appears that Lexmark does not attempt to fix the problem, they just give you a couple of free kits to shut you up.

From the home screen, touch Settings > Device > Maintenance > Configuration menu > Supply usage andcounters. Select Fuser Reset
The ITM can also be reset here.

The Fuser PM Kit you listed is the one that is included as of Oct. 2020. Free ITM, Black & Color Image units are also included. About $500 worth of stuff. It is to be claimed under warranty when it is needed. It doesn't just ship with the machines. This did shut me up a little bit

I remember when the first fixing films came out on the HP LJ4000. Some lasted 120K images. Some less, if you ran envelopes or used refurbished fusers (I concluded that the rebuilders were a bit stingy with the fixing film grease). I would add grease before installing which was inconvenient, but helped.

I think where the manufacturers went wrong, is that they took a fuser that worked fine at 20cpm, then pushed it up to 40-50cpm.

You know what I'd like to see? A 16oz aluminum teflon coated heat roller with a halogen lamp inside ... maybe 2 or 3 lamps. =^..^=

Screw Teflon...why not Ceramic non-stick???
