Liberals keep blaming gerrymandering for when they are unable win local non-partisan elections when the problem is that they lack decent candidates. Three years ago Delores Huerta used the courts to force a redistricting of the Kern County Supervisor districts to get another Hispanic on the board from Ward 4. In the following election, incumbent David Couch easily still beat Delores's son Emilio Huerta.
But the last census redistricting before the 2016 Presidential election was in 2010 and it apparently did not affect the 2012 results.
There is one reason and one reason only for the Republicans winning big in 2016. Her name is Hillary Clinton. Many liberals voted against Hillary. Maybe not for Trump but there were other candidates on the ballots and liberals cast their votes for them instead of the Hilabeast.
