    Quite true.

What is so irritating is how Ford is making such a big push for the F150 Lightning, whose distance drops dramatically when hauling a load or pulling a trailer.

Most (but certainly not all) people buy trucks for that very reason.

To say that consumer education is paramount when making the decision between gas and electric would be a monstrous understatement.

If you look at Ford's web page for the Lightning, they picture it towing an Airstream travel trailer as well as a picture of it providing power to an electric miter saw at a housing construction site. With all the AC power take-offs I wonder how long the batteries are going to last at a job site. In the you can even power a mini fridge. With the kind of usage a job site or college student at the beach can put it to, there are going to be people who won't be able to get back to a charging station.

Have you forgotten that GM knowingly installed faulty ignition switches in cars for ten years that caused fires and deaths?

... a lot of people buy Ford F150 for their looks and size (they feel safer in a big vehicle). The owners of these trucks will likely never see a construction site. Other owners like Foreman and Site Supervisors and people who use them as mobile offices rarely carry anything of much weight.

If you want a F150 to haul heavy loads and pull a trailer, maybe the gas powered version would be better for this type of worker. I know there are F250 and F350 Super Duty trucks and these vehicles are unlikely to be battery powered anytime soon. Super Duty's actually have two main batteries in them to start the vehicle.

... well, for once, a good warning. Lithium batteries if not properly maintained can ignite especially when not used with their proper chargers.

I can imagine in a place like NYC, an eBike or eScooter would be much easier, maybe faster and far less expensive to get around town than in an automobile. So there are probably lots of eBike batteries in the city in various states of disrepair.

I just wonder how forthcoming most dealers will be with perspective customers.

As long as the customer is aware of the facts, then it’s up to them to make an informed decision.

Of course, Ford is out to eliminate the dealer network anyway…but that’s another story.
