    Slot Machine

Yesterday, I bought a slot machine. This is a Pachislo Japanese slot machine. I wanted a slot machine for the game room and I did my research before buying. Apparently, slots are huge in Japan and heavily regulated. In Japan, the slot machines are changed out after only 2 years, so you can find them for sale in really good shape.

This one works on tokens, but I'm in the process of converting it over to quarters. It's pretty nice, I think, and it works great. See below:

When I was a kid we had a nickel and dime slot. Had two arcade bowling alleys in the basement and pinball machines. This was 47 years ago. We moved and dad sold them all. My dad is 84 now and within the last few years he has bought a slot like yours and two pinball machines. I bet those bowling alleys are worth some change now.

    Nice device.
Have repaired such devices for 10 years, starting with the conversion from “German Mark” to Euro.
Please check whether your coin validator is self-learning.
Then you can teach and program the desired coin with the right signal.

Nice - I recently got an old "NSM mint" from the late 70s and did a full refurb.

Pinball machines are ridiculously expense these days. I've seen some priced over $10,000. On average, you're talking about at least 3k for a good one.

I'm sure those bowling machines are expensive, too. I've been thinking about getting a skee ball machine.

I managed to get my hands on the service manual for my slot machine and I see no indication that the coin validator is self-learning. I did order a converter to change over from tokens to quarters.

Here where I live there are about 15 or so casinos and I hear that a slot tech makes good money. From the looks of it, a slot machine is a walk in the park compared to a copier. At least this one is.
