This is interesting. We got ourselves into a mess with bio technology. This is a serious step if what they claim is true. Could generate real effective medicines from this. But like recent history have shown us the powers to be would probably just monetize, weaponize and capitalize on this.

Its the nitrogen oxide gas and ammonia that would be the possible concern. It dissolves into water evaporates and comes down in raindrops. It is a concern just handled poorly.

If I recall from my physics class, the nitrogen molecule is heaver than the Oxygen molecule hence explaining the ratio. And, one might argue the fact but there is less oxygen molecules at higher altitudes, but this is due to the fact that there is less air pressure to "push" the oxygen molecules together.

If the fertilizer is used in just the right amount all of it gets used. It is the overuse that leads to leaching nitrogen pollutants into water runoff. Over marketing and bad implementation is the bigger problem.
